While I've never truly found a whiskey I didn't like (to some degree) the Canadian whiskeys have tended toward the lower end of my preferential bucket... Oh there are some magnificently smooth and mellow Canadian whiskeys (Pendleton, Crown Royal), but even these tend towards the "nobody's home" level of excellence. But now I've uncovered a true winner... Forty Creek Barrel Select.
"Aromas of banana crème brulee, mocha gelato and roasted nuts with a round, silky, dry yet fruity, medium body and a long, seamless dried fruit and grain husk accented finish. Excellent" ~Rated 90 points (Exceptional), International Review of Spirits
"Creamy, sweet corn whisky with dusty, earthy rye, ripe red fruits, sherry, sweet-and-sour sauce, floral perfume, ginger, cinnamon, hot pepper, and hints of citric peels. Fruity & Spicy." ~Davin de Kergommeaux, CanadianWhisky.org
"Canadian Whiskey with a finish? Holy S**t! This fu**in' ROCKS!" ~Bacon
On my shelves and looking for a caring home!
