Today is a special day here at Renegade/Calypso. Today would have been Matt’s birthday. While I only had the privilege to meet him on a couple of occasions, I could tell he was a nice man and on a professional level, he had a real vision of building a beautiful cigar lounge for his friends to gather, relax, celebrate victories and unwind after a long day. After spending the last three months hearing wonderful stories about him, it really saddens me that I didn’t have the chance to get to know him better. However, thanks to Mary I have the privilege to allow his legacy to live on.

If you knew him, smoke something special in his honor and spend a couple of minutes thinking about the good memories he left you with.

Renegade Ci**rs and Calypso Ci**rs

As many of you know, Renegade Ci**rs has recently purchased Calypso Ci**rs. We are very grateful for the beautiful lounge that Matt and Mary built and we are committed to maintaining the excellent experience they have provided their members over the years. Mary has built wonderful friendships at Calypso and we look forward to having her both as a friend and a regular around the lounge. Please allow me to welcome you all to Renegade Cigar Lounge and to introduce our team.

About Renegade Ci**rs Lounge: Renegade was purchased by Brandon Hayes in 2014, just after its fourth year in operation. Over the last five years, Renegade became one of the most successful brick and mortar cigar shops in Texas. It is known for its incredible customer service, well-curated selection of premium ci**rs, and for hosting some of the best cigar events in the country. In 2017, Davidoff selected Renegade to become an appointed merchant (no easy task). Renegade has become a popular destination for customers looking for someone knowledgeable to help select their ci**rs and as a place to unwind after a hard day at work.

About Brandon Hayes, Owner: Brandon has been in the service industry his entire adult life. He built a successful janitorial business from the ground up and sold his company to a large corporation in 2014. An avid cigar smoker, Brandon decided to turn his passion into a career. After purchasing Renegade, he knew that to be successful he would need to work hard, hire the right staff, and offer an experience that exceeded the competition—goals he maintains today.

About Scott Sinclair, Manager: Scott has played a critical role in making Renegade become what it is today. You only need to meet him once to see his passion for Renegade, the cigar industry, and our customers. He values every relationship and always does more than expected to make sure you land on the perfect cigar, have a clean ashtray and come back again.

About Caleb: Caleb is a part-time employee at Renegade and a full-time school teacher in Richardson. He enjoys helping customers, ci**rs, traveling, diving and cooking. About Jacob: Many of you know Jacob from the Calypso staff where he has worked for the past two years. We are excited to have him on board with us and know he is going to be a huge asset to our team. He has been working very hard to make the transition as seamless as possible and shares our collective interest in making Renegade a positive experience for all our customers.

Calypso Lounge Members,

As some of you probably already know, Calypso ci**rs is now the new location of Renegade Ci**rs (formerly on Shire Boulevard in Richardson, Texas). We are excited about the opportunity to bring both cigar communities together under one roof. Much like the Calypso lounge you already know, Renegade has three simple goals. First, provide customers a comfortable place to relax and enjoy a cigar. Second, to provide all of our customers a top-notch level of customer service that not only meets, but exceeds their level of expectations. Lastly, to provide customers with a selection of premium, hand-rolled ci**rs unparalleled in the cigar industry. Please know we will work tirelessly to exceed your expectations in all three areas.

Hey all - as you know, I have sold the business to Renegade Ci**rs. Matt's shop will live on under Brandon's capable leadership and the Renegade name. Thank you so much for your support since 2005 - and your love over the last 6 months since Matt left this world for the ultimate cigar lounge!
