There’s something special about these dusty scotches from

A much more delicate peat profile, and strong, beautifully rounded pear and apple notes on the nose. This 90s was wonderful, color being lighter than most reposado tequila.

An absolute pleasure to try this as I’ve got a couple in the stash with more coming 🥃🔥

has the most epic scotch menu I have seen. Just absurd. Amazing food & hospitality too, highly recommend.

This stood out to me while scrolling through their overwhelmingly awesome whisky list.

A hand filled, distillery exclusive: 2004 Moine Oloroso at 53.9%

Nose: fig, jam, honey, slight ethanol but not offsetting

palate: great mouthfeel which then explodes with flavors of stone fruit, dark chocolate and sea salt

finish: an extension of the palate, long and seemingly everlasting

Quite the treat! A couple more Islay reviews before we’re on to regular programming 🥃

What a day with 🥃

I absolutely adore this brand, so today was another fairy tales, dram filled day on my dream tour of Islay.

After the welcome pours, we had the 30 year ex bourbon and sherry hogshead. What. A. Treat.

Mangos and cream for days, delicate and complex.

As epic as it was, the stand out for me (pictured on second slide) is the first bottle on the left, part of their hand fill series releases. Bowmore actually bottles in Glasgow since there is not enough labor on Islay, so these rare releases are dropped randomly and those lucky enough can score a bottle… maybe.

The cruelest part about this dram is that it will NEVER be released as it was never bottled… it was the cask they would thief for VIP tours and it’s all gone, besides this one, hand written / labeled bottle.

Cask 10226, ex bourbon only, 18 years - just an amazingly unique pour which showcases everything and hides nothing due to the nature of the cask.

I wish I could have everyone nose this pour - it was vanilla yankee candle and frosting for days, which followed through on the palate. 10/10. I don’t give many of those out.

I know there are two more pours next to that flight, including the oldest handfill ever released (27 years) but this ex-bourbon cask absolutely blew me away.

Well, today has been an absolute dream and ALL about which is perfect.

First and foremost, shout out to our wonderful guide Eva, who represents the brand, Islay, and whisky SO well.

We had an intimate and private tour and tasted some epic pours, all before 11:30 AM 😂🥃

Straight from the cask we thieved:

Breakfast: Bruichladdich 2006, Ex-Rivesaltes Cask - a whopping 62.2% and 19 years old. Quite the start to the morning.

Lunch: Port Charlotte 2016, virgin oak, at an even higher 65.9%, but drank so delicate with hints of pepper on the finish, and had the most excellent, fruit forward nose.

The Grand Finale: Octomore 2010, ex bourbon and rum which was then vatted and finished in ex-Pomerol casks. Absolutely bonkers… deep, ruby red color which was a firework from beginning to end. 54.7% and the peat had mellowed out after being aged for 15 years!

I can’t wait to talk to you guys about this in person… cheers!

Aperitif – Spicy-sweet magic with hibiscus, clove, and ancho chile. I love this stuff.

Blanco – Crisp, herbal, and agave-forward. Classic highland tequila done right, and for a killer price.
