Would you just get a load of these guys! The counselors of RLMF 2025! A huge round of applause goes out to these fine people who make the festival possible each and every summer!

They in return want to express their gratitude to the faculty who always inspire everyone higher than the Beartooths can climb - to all the parents of each one of our amazing students who always recognize the lasting value of RLMF - and of course, to each one of our fantastic students! You always amaze and inspire us with your endless curiosity, entertaining personalities, boundless enthusiasm, and impressive talent! This festival is 60 years old because of YOU!

We already miss you and can't wait until RLMF 2026!

Always an adventure!

Established in 2004. In the 1930’s and 1940’s, The Friedt Koal Yard trucked Smith Mine coal to Billings in the very truck that is on the logo. Joe Friedt, 1 of 15, and his brothers sold Smith Mine coal to patrons such as P.B. Moss. The truck still runs and is owned by Joel Friedt. The truck has been a participant in the Red Lodge Home of Champions 4th of July Parade. Joe Friedt married Maxine Metcalf Friedt in 1950. Maxine, 1 of 13, from Luther was a product of the Homestead Act where her parents purchased 160 acres and homesteaded in the Metcalf Road area. Joe was a long time bartender in Billings at The Keg and The Monte Carlo. Carrying on the “family tradition”, Leta Friedt McGann established the Red Lodge Montana State Agency Liquor Store in November of 2004. Having spent family reunions and picnics since birth in Red Lodge and participating in the Red Lodge Music Festival, Red Lodge is home.
