Alas, you weren’t there.

We can all agree that, as *interesting* a time as it was, the ‘80s did not contribute much to American culture in terms of aesthetic value. I mean, that hair? Really? But that was before we discovered this vintage (that’s right, Millennials, you’re old) “Biggest Little State” design. That’s right, even the ‘80s couldn’t make Lil Rhody less cute. We knew we had to do something with this retro find— something that felt more apropos of our identity. Well, here it is: Our take on an old classic, with much more emphasis on what makes RI what it is… which is obviously Pterodactyls.

Our founder Erin’s favorite piece of vintage apparel has long been her prized Bermuda No Problem hoodie. So much so that in our last production meeting, she insisted we make a Rhode Island version. A few months ago, the Frog & Toad Research & Development team was combing through the RI State Archives only to discover various ephemera related to a little hole-in-the-wall dive bar from the 1960s called the Quahog Cafe that was located over in the West End? (They were best known for their roast beef sandwich lunch specials and a slammin’ stuffie martini.) To our shock and surprise, we learned that they used one of the first iterations of Clancy the Quahog for all of their branding.

The FnT Historical Design Committee then leapt into action, reworking the Quahog Cafe’s original staff uniforms and screen printing exact replicas right here at our West End printshop.
Now for the first time in nearly 65 years, you can get a small-batch, re-edition of the Quahog Cafe’s staff uniform!

With more than 37” of thick, heavy snow, the “Blizzard of ‘26” surpassed the notorious “Blizzard of ‘78”, which previously held the record for the greatest single snowstorm in Rhode Island history! So we picked up our shovels and soldiered through. That’s because we’re New Englanders and that’s what we do!
