It is with deep sadness to share the passing of Bill Smith, President/CEO of Beck’s.
Bill developed many genuine friendships and loyal business partnerships over his 34+ years at Beck’s. He will be remembered not only for professional success but also for the strong relationships he has built.
Beyond business, Bill was an incredible, loving father to his two children, Jacob & Paige, and of course, his best pal Diesel Dog. They were his pride and joy, and his work family was a close second. “This is Peg, my one-legged wife.” “Pat counts the beans here.” “Gooood morning, Marty J Lump Lump Squirrel.” Bill was known for many witty, fun-loving, famous remarks.
We were often reminded to “block & tackle” focusing on our core values of fast, convenient service and teamwork. He also reminded us that every obstacle or challenge was “no hill for a climber.” Bill built a legacy at both Beck’s and the fuel/convenience industry. We have lost a legendary leader, but we are left with a deep understanding of the value of hard work, perseverance, and unwavering compassion.
Bill invested in the lives of the Beck’s employees making this the BEST, most fun place to work. He was a brilliant businessman, continually casting vision and planning for new opportunities. The sky was the limit for Bill, and we are honored to carry on his mission. Bill has significantly shifted the dynamics of Beck’s and the entire industry.
