Often overlooked but sound advice....

Ash is a matter of courtesy. The ember is a matter of safety.

Ash is part of the experience, but it should be managed. It falls easily, carries, and leaves its mark on clothing, furniture, and the space around you.

An ember carries more than heat. If it drops unnoticed, it can burn through fabric or ignite a surface in seconds.

Both require your attention.

A cigar is not finished until the ash is placed and the ember is fully out.

A disciplined tobacconist treats ash and embers carefully. Late-night ashtrays are emptied into a separate metal bucket with sand, not into the trash.
