It’s not just the Nebbiolo that we love from Piedmont!

The Langhe boasts a strong white wine production including this “little rascal” Arnies. It is nicknamed little rascal due to it being notoriously challenging to grow and vinify and is very susceptible to disease.

Arneis produces a complex medium bodied white wine. This Cordero di Montezemolo is full of fruits like peach and melon, has floral notes like camomile and acacia with a touch of honey. This wine is fresh and lively with savory notes and just enough acid to keep you going back for another splash.

Cordero di Montezemolo is located in La Morra with around 35 hectares under vine. The site has a history of winemaking since the 1340 and has been owned by the current family for almost a century.

This wine is perfect for a rainy late spring day when you need a white wine with a little weight and interest. I would pair this with chicken cutlets, roasted vegetable risotto or an herby seafood dish.

Let’s get this Memorial Day Weekend Started the right way!! We won’t let a little rain and gloom stop us- this is New England and we will make ourselves a drink and pour a glass of wine and have ourselves a time!

If you come check out my Italian red section you might notice that Nebbiolo is my favorite varietal! (I even accidentally left one out of this photo)

We have all kinds of styles of this thin skinned grape from Piedmont, Northwest Italy. It is known for being a high acid and high tannin grape that is just a little burnt orangey red in color and semi transparent. Nebbiolo comes from word nebbia- meaning fog- likely due to the heavy bouts of fog that set into the Langhe Hills where this grape resides. This is an early budding and late ripening grape that makes it fraught with risks throughout the season.

You may have heard of Its most “serious” expressions - Barolo and Barbaresco which will have aging in both oak and bottle. But we also have some outstanding Langhe Nebbiolo and light fruity and fresh expressions like the Claré.

Tasting notes across the styles tend to be cherry, roses, anise and with some age - leather and tar. Come by and check out our Nebbiolo selection, ask about the different styles and we will find the one that suits you best!

Looking for that bold red to cozy up to for the evening thunderstorms? This Nero d’Avola is just the thing!
From Sicily’s Western Coast near Marsala this benefits from coastal breezes and the hot sun to give it complexity and maintain some freshness. It has a touch of oak to give it some pretty vanilla notes along with the powerful black fruits and spices this wine boasts. $25/btl
