As many folks in the C-store business know, there are just some people you cannot please. Complaints about not having a public restroom (which we do not have a license for), that they have to wait too long for an order or just plain rude and entitled to act like children. Today, whilst in the midst of making 500 sandwiches, we postponed opening the deli until 12 PM (and we were down a person due to illness). Many of the people who came were kind and understood as the staff was busy putting the order together. An older, white male with gray hair and beard came in at 11:45 AM and demanded a sandwich. He was politely informed, per the sign on the deli, that the deli would open at 12PM as were in the middle of a catering order. He got angry and said " I can't believe you are turning me away over 15 minutes". I reiterated that the deli staff were busy. He then abusive and said "You just lost my business". He was told that immature, abusive and/or petulant behavior would not be tolerated and he was asked to leave. He than said "F@ you" amongst a few other repulsive comments. So, the guy with a black Volkswagen with Connecticut plates, don't ever come back. These people do not have the right to come into Vermont stores, act entitled and arrogant, and abuse the staff. I will be sending this to all of my fellow business owners. I am happy to hand out this guy's picture. license plate and make/model of vehicle. Enough of tolerating such behavior. It is not in our job descriptions.
