Bulli 'Cör' Vino Rosso Colli Piacentini
Emilio Romagna, Italy NV
Regular: $18
This week: $15
This non-vintage red wine is a blend of 60% Barbera, 30% Bonarda (aka Croatina) and 10% Uva Rara from different vintage years, all from organic vineyards in the hills around Piacenza in western Emilia-Romagna, made with no sulfur and no additives, by the Bulli family. The grapes are from vines ranging in age from ten to fifty years, planted in alkaline limestone soils and fermented with native yeasts. This light to medium-bodied blend of traditional Italian varietals delivers rustic minerality, bright acidity, savory, earthy herbal undertones matched by cranberry, black cherry and raspberry fruit flavors, qualities that make this wine very food-friendly. Serve slightly chilled.
Pairs well with: grilled meats, antipasti platter, cheeses such as Provolone Valdapana, Pecorino, Casciotta d'Urbino, Parmeggiano Reggiano, pastas with tomato based sauces such as Tagliatelle with ragù, spaghetti with porcini mushrooms, pizza with black olives, salads such as Caprese, Panzanella, antipasti, or Italian rice salad.
