Roots Wine Company, Un Autre Monde Pinot Noir
Willamette Valley, Oregon 2023
Regular: $22

Founded in Yamhill, Oregon in 1999 by his parents, Chuck and Dian, as a small project, second generation winemaker, Chris Berg and his wife, Hilary, assumed the reins in 2001 growing sustainably farmed Pinot Noir, now with multiple vineyards around the Willamette Valley, they have carved out a strong reputation for quality wines. Roots Wine Company has grown considerably, from 72 cases of Pinot Noir in 2002, the first harvest for Chris and Hilary, to five thousand cases annually.
This lovely 100% Pinot Noir wine has aromas of bright red fruit accented by spice and floral notes. Tangy on the palate, with red fruit accented by dusty earthiness and more spice. the fruit-driven wine shows soft tannins and flavors of dark cherry compote, strawberry leather, stewed plums and rose oil. Heady aromas of cedar, mushroom, earth and black cherry emerge from the glass. A long, satisfying finish that lingers with bright acidity to complete the experience. It was fermented with indigenous yeasts and aged in stainless steel tank and neutral French oak barrels for 8 months.
Pairs well with: pork, salmon, lamb, duck, barbecue, charcuterie, stuffed mushrooms, asparagus wrapped in bacon, mushroom pizza, veggie lover pizza, grilled chicken sandwiches, Croque Monsieur, portobello mushroom sandwiches, vegetable risotto, roasted butternut squash, Brussels sprouts, goat cheese, Cheddar, Gouda, and sheep's milk cheeses.
