Pick of the week:
Domaine Laroche 'Saint Martin' Chablis Burgundy, France 2023
Regular: $38
This week: $32

The Laroche family established Domaine Laroche in 1850. The property was first established as a monastery in the village of Chablis in 867 by the canons (monks) of Saint Martin de Tours. The first recorded mention of the property being a wine producer is in 1128.

This 100% Chardonnay wine is produced with grapes from a selection of the finest historic terroirs in the Chablis Village appellation. Within these terroirs the plots are meticulously differentiated by their exposure and soil type. Special care from vine to vinification to aging makes the Saint Martin Cuvée more than a Chablis Village. Chardonnay acquires salinity, purity and freshness when cultivated on the Kimmerdgian marl subsoil of Chablis. With crisp acidity, minerality and citrus notes this wine is perfect as an apéritif or with seafood or fish.

Pairs well with: grilled halibut, lobster rolls, sushi, shrimp scampi, tuna tartare, fish tacos, roast chicken with a cream sauce, seafood risotto, spinach and mushroom quiche, lighter fare such as your favorite green salad, Caprese salad, a salad with baked goat cheese roundels, Brie, Comté, Gruyère and goat cheese.

Bulli 'Cör' Vino Rosso Colli Piacentini
Emilio Romagna, Italy NV

Regular: $18
This week: $15

This non-vintage red wine is a blend of 60% Barbera, 30% Bonarda (aka Croatina) and 10% Uva Rara from different vintage years, all from organic vineyards in the hills around Piacenza in western Emilia-Romagna, made with no sulfur and no additives, by the Bulli family. The grapes are from vines ranging in age from ten to fifty years, planted in alkaline limestone soils and fermented with native yeasts. This light to medium-bodied blend of traditional Italian varietals delivers rustic minerality, bright acidity, savory, earthy herbal undertones matched by cranberry, black cherry and raspberry fruit flavors, qualities that make this wine very food-friendly. Serve slightly chilled.

Pairs well with: grilled meats, antipasti platter, cheeses such as Provolone Valdapana, Pecorino, Casciotta d'Urbino, Parmeggiano Reggiano, pastas with tomato based sauces such as Tagliatelle with ragù, spaghetti with porcini mushrooms, pizza with black olives, salads such as Caprese, Panzanella, antipasti, or Italian rice salad.

Pick of the Week:
Masciarelli Trebbiano d'Abruzzo
Abruzzo, Italy 2025

Regular price: $17.00
This week (through Monday, April 27th): $14.45

Founded by Abruzzo native Gianni Masciarelli in 1981, Masciarelli and its wines have become the standard-bearers for the Abruzzo region. After spending a summer in Champagne in his youth, Gianni Masciarelli returned home convinced that the wines produced in Abruzzo could be greatly improved into world class quality. Thus with that vision and tremendous innovation he set about doing just that, starting with his grandfather's five acre vineyard. Gianni focused on vineyard management, identifying new vineyard sites and new planting techniques, not typical points of focus at the time. Through reducing yields and working sustainably the quality of the fruit greatly increased. He also improved winery processes and extended aging, resulting in greater depth and complexity to the wines.

In the subsequent decades the Masciarelli estate has grown to nearly 900 acres across 60 different non-adjoining parcels, having acquired only the best vineyards in the extraordinary Abruzzo region, regardless of location.

This wine is 100% Trebbiano d'Abruzzo with aromas of stone fruits, a round, concentrated mid-palate and a lovely finish revealing the minerality.
