To All Our Valued Customers:
We are announcing the closing of JD’s Hallmark. We will cease operations on Sunday February 15, 2026. Many factors have brought us to the decision to close the doors. The cancellation of our Post Office contract, the non-renewal of our lease, the drastic changes in the gifting industry, rising costs of EVERYTHING and our desire to slow down and ease into retirement have brought us to this place.
As many of you have been asking for months when are we going to be closing our contract postal station. That date has been determined and is inevitable. We apologize for the inconvenience this will cause many of you. We know our hours were more compatible with many of our online sellers and small business in the area. We would like to offer you alternatives other than the main post offices. Close by is Postal and More, they are located at 5830 W Thunderbird Rd Ste B8. They are open 9-5 M-F and 9-2 on Saturday. We personally use them for our FedEx shipments and have always been pleased with the service.
Furthermore, the gifting industry has changed and is continuing to change. When we bought the store from Monty over 10 years ago we had hundreds of vendors to choose from. That has changed in the last few years, since Covid many of our vendors have gone out of business, been bought by other larger companies or have changed their business model to eliminate doing business with small “mom & pop” retailers. Furthermore, we can’t compete with Amazon which many of our vendors are now selling direct to the consumer at prices far lower than what we would be require to sell the same item for in our store.
Finally, we aren’t getting any younger and we want to begin slowing down and eventually retiring to our farm in Tennessee. We have been working 12-15 hours/day and 7 days a week for more than 10 years. It takes a toll and doesn’t leave much time for anything else.
Please accept our sincerest gratitude for your support throughout the years. We will miss so many of you whom we have grown close to over the years. We have shared the good and the bad times with many of you and we will hold those memories close.
