A few spots are still open for tomorrow’s French wine tasting, and I really love this lineup.
These wines carry some famous names — Sancerre, Burgundy, Mâcon, Chinon — but what I love most is that they are not just about prestige. They are about place, tradition, and discovery.
Many French wine labels tell you where the wine is from before they tell you the grape. That can feel unfamiliar at first, but it is also part of the fun. Burgundy often means Chardonnay or Pinot Noir, but those wines can taste very different from the more familiar styles many of us know.
These are also the kinds of wines I wish my mom could try with me. They might not be the bottles she would pick up on her own, but I know she would love them. And that is one of my favorite parts of wine — helping someone discover something new that ends up feeling exactly right.
And for the Sancerre lovers, I see you. It really is worth the hype. We are also pouring another beautiful Sauvignon Blanc from a nearby region that seriously overdelivers.
Then there is Cabernet Franc. I can’t think of French Cabernet Franc without thinking of my husband, because he doesn’t know it, but it is one of his favorite kinds of wine. I love that for him. He has taste.
Thoughtful, delicious French wines for summer in Pawleys. Come sip with us tomorrow from 4–6.
