🥃 Samuel Call Single Barrel Release + Jacob Call Bottle Signing!

Back in September, we made the trip to Western Kentucky Distilling to select a barrel from Jacob Call’s private stock lineup, Samuel Call — a bourbon that created quite a bit of buzz at this year's Kentucky Bourbon Festival!

And we're proud to share that Barrel Heads is the FIRST liquor store to select private barrels of Samuel Call!

As we mentioned in a previous post, one of the barrels was a short-yield barrel, so we decided to select TWO barrels instead of one.

Well… turns out BOTH barrels ended up being short yields!

🥃 Barrel #1 — Just 48 bottles

🥃 Barrel #2 — Just 79 bottles

That's only 127 bottles combined from TWO entire barrels!

YES, YOU READ THAT RIGHT!

And here's the kicker… LESS THAN 80 BOTTLES TOTAL from both barrels combined will be available for purchase!

Due to the extremely limited quantities, purchases will be limited to ONE bottle per person, from either barrel.

🏇🥃 A Day at the Races with Woodford Reserve!

Yesterday, we had the incredible opportunity to spend the day at the legendary Churchill Downs, courtesy of Brown-Forman, to celebrate 30 years of Woodford Reserve! 🥃

What made the day even more special was getting an opportunity to taste one of Woodford Reserve’s newest creations — Double Oaked Rye! 👀🥃

Being at Churchill Downs on race day is an experience in itself, but getting to enjoy it while celebrating such an iconic Kentucky bourbon brand and getting an early taste of an exciting new product made it even better!

One of the things we appreciate most about opportunities like this is getting to connect with people throughout the wh***ey industry, exchange ideas, share our feedback on products, and hear firsthand about what's happening behind the scenes.

At Barrel Heads, our passion for wh***ey goes far beyond what's on our shelves. Experiences like these allow us to continue learning, building relationships, and bringing that knowledge and excitement back to our customers.

I’ll proudly admit it. I’m a King of Kentucky fanboy through and through. 😂 There’s just something about seeing those iconic white tubes every year that never gets old.

Well, the wait is finally over…

THE 2026 KING OF KENTUCKY 14 YEAR HAS OFFICIALLY LANDED AT BARREL HEADS! 👑🔥

We managed to get a pretty good family photo together… although not everyone made it into the frame. 😉📸

🥃 ANOTHER SINGLE BARREL IN THE BOOKS… OR TWO?! 👀🔥

At the end of September, we made a trip to Western Kentucky Distilling to visit Owensboro’s very own gem, Jacob Call, and select a barrel of Samuel Call Single Barrel Bourbon!

If you know anything about the Samuel Call lineup, you know it showcases some of the absolute best juice from Jacob’s private stock. And boy, did he have some treats waiting for us!

Now, you might be wondering… Why are there TWO barrels in the picture instead of ONE? 🤔

Well, Jacob had lined up 10+ barrels for us to sample through. With that many barrels staring us down, we honestly didn’t know where to begin. So naturally, we started randomly tapping, shaking, and moving barrels around until I stumbled upon one that immediately caught my attention.

Now, when a 135-pound guy like me can push a full-size bourbon barrel around like it’s nothing, you KNOW that thing has to be a short-yield barrel! 😂🥃

We immediately put that barrel into our second-round tasting flight, and HOLY SMOKES… DID IT DELIVER! 🔥

Don’t get me wrong, there wasn’t a bad barrel in the bunch. But this particular short barrel was something SPECIAL.

At 8+ years old, this bourbon had the legs, viscosity, rich color, and mouthfeel you’d expect from something aged 12+ years. The depth and character were absolutely unreal. 🤯

And just like that… what was supposed to be a ONE-barrel selection turned into TWO!

Needless to say, these might just be TWO OF THE BEST BARRELS we’ve selected all year! 🏆🥃

A HUGE thank you to Jacob Call and Zach Maysey for the incredible hospitality and for giving us the opportunity to taste through some truly exceptional wh***ey.

One thing is for sure… you’ll be seeing a LOT more Barrel Heads barrel selections coming out of Western Kentucky Distilling! 😉

❤️ Two Fundraisers. One Incredible Community. ❤️

This past week reminded us just how special the Owensboro community truly is.

Our neighbors at Take 10 Market held “Fueling Support for a Fallen Hero” in honor of Trooper Hayden Phillips. With every gallon pumped and the overwhelming support of our community, $7,637.50 will go to Trooper Phillips’ family. 💙

At the same time, here at Barrel Heads, you showed up in a huge way for SparKY Animal Rescue through our Paws & Pours Silent Auction, cash donations, and Tito’s Tailgate & Tails fundraiser.

🐾 Together, we raised $6,670 for SparKY!

Between these two fundraisers, our community came together to raise an incredible $14,307.50 for two causes very close to home.

Whether you pumped gas, bought a bottle of Tito’s, placed a bid, made a donation, shared a post, or simply helped spread the word — you were part of this.

A huge thank you to everyone who donated bottles and items for Paws & Pours, to Tito’s for partnering with us, and to every single person who supported either fundraiser.

$7,637.50 for the Phillips family. 💙

$14,307.50 raised by our community. ❤️

This is what happens when local businesses and an incredible community come together for something bigger than ourselves.
