Our next wine class is coming up quick. We will be learning about Evening Land winery in the Eola-Amity Hills part of the Willamette Valley in Oregon. We will try two Pinot Noirs and two Chardonnays. The Willamette is often compared to Burgundy because of its challenging growing conditions, limestone soils, varietals planted, and the quality-minded smaller-scale producers. For 135 years the Valdemar family has been producing wine in Spain’s Rioja region. Five generations have dedicated themselves to the cultivating and caring of vines, and wine production. With over 300 hectares of vines, it’s safe to say they have a wine or two you will love. On May 21, Mandie Silver, the national sales director of the Valdemar family will join us at Le Bouillon/Howard Street Wine to taste some of their wines, and educate us on the wines of the Valdemar family and the area of Rioja. Trousseau is a thin and dark skinned grape originally from the mountainous Jura region in the north east of France. Jura Trousseau is lightly colored in the glass and tastes of strawberry, watermelon, hints of orange peel and cinnamon. When grown in warmer climates the berry flavors get darker and it picks up a feral quality that is hard to describe. In Spain the grape is called Bastardo. Join us Wednesday May 21, 2025 at 6 pm as we explore the Spanish region Rioja through the lens of Bodegas Valdemar, a multi-generational family owned estate based out of Spains “La Rioja.”

Mandie Silver, the national sales director of the Valdemar family will lead this class.
