Mitten’s Travel Center Celebrates Renovation & New Ownership Partners
Mitten’s Travel Center is celebrating the completion of a two-year renovation and welcoming Darren and Tori Goetz as ownership partners as the company approaches its 60th anniversary in 2027.
Founded in 1967 by Jim and Estelene Mitten, the family truck stop has grown into a business employing approximately 150 people and serving travelers, professional drivers, agricultural customers, and surrounding communities.
Today, Mitten’s operates a full-service travel center, truck repair shop, and bulk fuel, lubricant, and DEF delivery services. The property also hosts Blue Beacon, IHOP, Subway, Sonic, an urgent care clinic, truckers chapel, and hotel.
Third-generation owner Matt Mildenberger has led the company for more than 20 years, following his grandparents; parents, Larry and Tami Bley; and aunt and uncle, Gary and Toni Johnson. He credits the company’s success to its employees, community support, and the guidance of his wife, Misty.
Darren joined Mitten’s in June 2014. As Executive Vice President, he has overseen much of its day-to-day operations and helped guide its growth.
“He’s earned our trust and respect through his dedication, work ethic, and leadership,” Matt said. “We’re proud to officially welcome him as an ownership partner.”
The renovation reflects Mitten’s continued investment in quality facilities and service. The company also thanks its employees for caring for customers and keeping operations running throughout construction.
“Our employees are the heart of this company,” Matt said. “We couldn’t do what we do without them.”
With updated facilities and a strengthened ownership team, Mitten’s remains committed to hard work, dependable service, strong relationships, and the communities that have supported it for nearly 60 years.
