Sorry, gotta close for one more day. I’ll be open a few more days next week to make up for all the weirdness before we close for our switcheroo! Between my other sick cat, me getting blasted by a bad cold, and the guy harassing us this last week, it has been a rough one, and I thank you for your kindness and responses. I have learned rigidity has never served me as long as I keep plodding forward. Life happens.

Anyway, here’s some new art of mine for tax! This and other new prints and paintings of mine coming to the shop next month ❤️‍🔥

Had to close early today because this dude came in and harassed our employee AGAIN after assaulting her two weeks ago and breaking her phone, and I’m too sick with a cold to cover for her so she can reset her nervous system. Frankly this guy needs serious help, but the most help we can realistically get is to have him incarcerated and get a restraining order. AND it probably cost more to have him arrested again than to get him the help he needs to stay off the streets, and he’ll probably be back once released again. Our system fails us in so many ways. My cousin is like this guy, and so I have so much compassion and understanding as to how someone gets like this. Anyway, we’re sorry we had to close, and we hope he gets the help he desperately needs. If he does return and you see him around, please don’t engage! He’s big and dangerous.

Well, the cat is out of the bag! Or…store.
While I have *loved* having our shop cats over the years, with our new model of store opening in May paired with some health issues Sundae is displaying, I’ve made the decision to move her home with me at the end of the month.

Sundae has often been the reason I have been able to keep myself together enough to get to the store in my darkest moments over the last three years she has been here. I’m very grateful for her.

I truly love this cat, and I know how much the community loves her, too. I love getting messages with photos of her in the early morning hours, basking in the sun from our window. I love hearing kids scream “SUNDAEEEE!!” from their strollers as they roll by. I love greeting customers with her rolling on the sun-warmed concrete in front of the entrance, laughing at her antics.

So please come by to send her your well-wishes before she moves in with me and my other three crazy animals. Her last day here will be Sunday, March 30th.

I hope that once she is settled, she will be interested in coming back to visit the store every so often. She is harness and leash trained and is cool as a cucumber, so I imagine this is likely and we will host Sundae Sundays for her fans to visit!

Happy Gotcha Day on the 28th to my spicy-sweet crook-tailed beauty Sundae 🌶️🍨🎀

She’s been at Bay-Made for three years now, and I just love her so much. We don’t know what her full history is, the vet’s guess is she’s probably 5-9 years old. Perhaps she came from Mexico as her microchip suggested (implanted by a rescue group that brings street dogs from Tijuana to southern CA and named “Manchitas”, Spanish for “Spots”, which is so cute haha), but at any rate she wound up under ’s mother in law’s deck three months after being chipped up near Petaluma, no one claimed her when I had her scanned, and the rest was history.

This friend finding Sundae is also funny as our first shop cat Heihei now lives with her, adopted from the shop when covid19 took off and a few weeks of cat sitting turned into them having her for almost a year. It feels fitting.

Semi-closed today in solidarity! Like just stay home with your loved ones, do something creative, go walk around Lake Merritt…idk. I’ll be at the shop if you need something desperately like a card for your mama’s birthday that you forgot, i’ll just be printing and organizing.

Anyway i see a lot of discourse on how effective/ineffective boycotts are, especially one day ones. But every movement takes ONE DAY to start. Montgomery Bus Boycott started with one day, then grew. People have to commit that imperfect action still drives the arrow towards goodness forward. There are more people on our side than ever before, don’t forget that. The horrors persist but so do WE 🖤
