Buc-ee's is already working on or pursuing dozens of other new stores across 16 states, including Tennessee and Kentucky.

With the development of Buc-ee's announced in 2024, there website now says it may not open in Oak Grove until 2029.

I received several questions from residents:

Q. Can we paint a red area on the curb of city streets to prevent people from parking in front of fire hydrants?

A. Public Works Director Ahart will look into this to see what the requirements are.

Q. There are several lots in town that are overgrown with weeds & grass. Can we do something about it?

A. Director Ahart will look at the addresses submitted to see if it’s a violation and take action.

Q. What’s the status of Hwy 911?

A. Crews have been actively working on the underground storm water drains. Last week’s weather caused some delays but progress continues! Once the drainage system is completed, crews will begin installing the plastic barrier and adding rock for the new pavement.

Q. What’s the deal with Buc-ee’s?

A. Buc-ee’s is still moving forward! They are currently working through storm water basin approvals. Once the updated engineering plans have been submitted and approved, the project will move forward. They have also been coordinating with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet on the new exit and entrance ramps as well as the proposed roundabouts.

West-bound I-24, from MM88 to the TN state line, will be CLOSED.

Both directions will utilize one lane, w/concrete barriers, on the east-bound side of I-24. Gonna need to pack a little extra patience!

Interstate Repair Project Starting Next Week in Christian County
I-24 will be reduced to one lane in each direction

MADISONVILLE, Ky. (February 25, 2026) – A contractor working for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet plans to begin an Interstate repair project next week along a five-mile section of Interstate 24 in Christian County.

Beginning March 1, 2026, I-24 will be reduced to one lane in each direction between the 88 mm at Oak Grove and the Tennessee line. During this phase of construction, traffic from both eastbound and westbound lanes will be shifted to the eastbound side of the interstate, with temporary barrier walls separating opposing traffic.

Due to the lane configuration, the maximum allowable load width will be 14 feet. Over-dimensional vehicles exceeding this width restriction must use an alternate route.

Over-dimensional traffic is advised to detour via I-65 to I-165 to the Western Kentucky Parkway to I-69 to I-24, provided no restrictions are in place on those routes.

The project is scheduled to be completed by mid-August, weather permitting. Motorists should expect reduced speeds and possible delays, and are encouraged to plan ahead, allow extra travel time and use caution through the work zone.
