After a nearly 10-year hiatus, I am now back in the liquor business. As of Saturday I have been gainfully employed at Sandy's wine and spirits and will be working out of the Flanders and the Budd lake store. Also, that organization plans to open a third store in hackettstown in the spring and you might be able to see me there as well. Stay thirsty my friends.

Well believe it or not, last February March 10 years that Ferry wines was sold. What I miss the most from not being in the business is some of our customers who are/were amazing people and some of the nuts are regular customers who are characters in their own right. Maybe one day I'll write a book or I'll just do a collection of short stories called liquor store. Good day to all keep America free and prosperous and never give up the ship!

One of my very first memories of ferry wines goes all the way back to about 1980 or so. There was an old man with a Long White Beard would come into the store on occasion. He had an uncanny resemblance to the Santa Claus from miracle on 34th Street and he was a very well read and gave you three or four books on one occasion one of them I remember was Fahrenheit 451 by Kurt vonnegut. The gentleman's name was Victor verdugo and the funniest thing that I remember about him is that he had one of those old school 1970s or 1960s travel bags the airlines used to give out to people and he had one for twa. But then he cut out a tea in the same color from somewhere and he taped it at the end of his TWA logo and basically walked around the ironbound with that bag and I thought it was just about one of the funniest things I've ever seen at that time.

July 29th of this month will Mark the 10th anniversary of The Darkest Day in the history of liquor retail in New Jersey. That was the day that Ferry Wines moved from Ferry Street to Adams Street. As for Tiananmen Square, the 30th Anniversary begins April 15th of next year.

Believe it or not, it was four years ago this month that we sold Ferry wines after 39 and a half years of family ownership. I don't really miss the business that much four years later and given the fact that I drink about 1/3 of what I used to drink when I was in the business, My liver is very happy that I'm an Uber driver. What I do missions the great customers that I had in the interaction that I had with them. I don't think I ever fully appreciate it a lot of you people when I was working in the liquor business. You were the lifeblood of our store and it was always fun to socialize and joke around with you. I hope all of you and your families are well then I would like to thank you again for all the years of business. God bless you.
