Letter of recommendation!!

Are you looking for a fabulous, funny, brilliant, and sweet driving instructor—someone who knows driving in NYC better than an NYPD traffic cop? Someone who will teach you with patience and kindness? Someone who will not give up on you??

Let me introduce you to EVERLINA, who has been teaching me how to drive these city streets, and who shepherded me to FINALLY pass my road test at the tender age of 48.

A native New Yorker, Everlina knows the rules and streets inside and out, and specializes in working with teenagers as well as middle aged nervous nellies and past road test flunkies such as myself.

I wholeheartedly endorse Everlina!

DM me for her contact information.

It’s been a harrowing week.
Praying for peace and safety in Israel AND Gaza.
Praying for an end at long last to genocidal governments.
Sending love and compassion to my heartsick friends and family.

I am profoundly disappointed in my alma mater — and troubled by its current administration’s tone-deaf and frankly insulting communications surrounding this matter, undermining alumnae and professors, telling us that we “don’t understand” the complexity of the law.

I have paused my personal annual support of Vassar and encourage others to do the same.

“New York is like an old friend. It has its moods. But I know them all.”

Happy 90th birthday, dear Yoko Ono.

Yoko Ono with Standing Woman (1932) by Gaston Lachaise, @ the sculpture garden, c. 1960–61.

Fun fact: I wrote my college entry essay about walking naked around NYC with this Lachaise sculpture, come-to-life.

“One of the great stories surrounding MoMA’s 1965 exhibition “The Responsive Eye” is how collector/garmento Larry Aldrich turned several Op paintings he owned into fabrics, and then into dresses, which fed into the Op Art Trend that was apparently swirling around New York. Of course, it’s a great story if you’re not named Bridget Riley.
It’s a well-known story, partly because Aldrich had invited a Herald Tribune columnist and photographer to his showroom to meet Riley who, until that moment, had no idea about the project. And she. Was. Pi**ed. Riley reportedly tried to sue, and differing accounts say she was either successful or thwarted by US laws.” -SOURCE: the terrific Greg.org @ MoMA The Museum of Modern Art

Judith Jamison and Mikhail Baryshnikov dance together on (we think, not 💯) 55th Street during a 1976 press conference to announce the premiere of “Pas de Duke,” a duet choreographed for them by Alvin Ailey set to the music of Duke Ellington. While rehearsing the piece, Alvin and Mischa spent a bit of off-time together. “We worked hard and we played hard,” Baryshnikov said in a 2006 NYT interview. “Alvin insisted that we go out at night to some clubs. Gay clubs, like Continental Baths. I learned my English in gay clubs.” Source:

New York is Book Country was a literary Midtown Manhattan street fair, with booksellers lining Fifth Avenue from 47th to 57th Streets. The book festival was held annually from 1979 to 2010. We share these posters with a wave to our bookish friends in Tampa for and in honor of our dear and beloved friend Latke, one of the greatest on this fine . @ Midtown manhattan
