Pour one out for Quincy Jones, the legendary record producer who began his storied career as  a trumpet player in the bands of Lonel Hampton and Dizzy Gillespie and later became chief arranger and conductor for Count Basie and Frank Sinatra. His skills and impeccable musical taste transcended jazz, ultimately producing many Hollywood film and television scores and pop records including the best-selling album of all time, Michael Jackson’s “Thriller.”
