Today in we pause to appreciate a piece that is part of the exhibition tour at the Las Claras Cultural Center (): 'New York BN 24', a painting that transports us to the heart of a city that has been pivotal in Cristobal Gabarron’s artistic journey.

New York has not only been the setting for many of his exhibitions and international projects, but also a key place in his artistic and personal development. In this work, he reflects that connection, portraying the city as an architectural puzzle seen from an almost labyrinthine aerial perspective. Buildings rise from a dark atmosphere, but small flashes of color interrupt the gloom—hints of the stories and lives they hold within. The piece presents a contrast between the vastness of the urban and the intimacy of the human.

📍 You can view this work at the Las Claras Cultural Center (Murcia), as part of the exhibition 'Gabarron. Memory's crystal', which also extends to the Cristobal Gabarron Museum in Mula.

🥚🌿 Residencies in Progress: Nacho Martin at Skulpturenpark Wesenberg

Over the past weeks, Nacho Martin has continued to deepen his research into the tension between belief and skepticism, magical thinking and symbolic perception. His practice combines drawing, installation, and experimentation with materials such as clay, paper, and found elements.

Alongside new drawings and the production of more clay egg-shaped pieces, Nacho has also continued work on the installation A Light Exactly Proportional, located in the basement of the park—a subtle intervention combining text and vegetation. While selecting and editing the first photographs of this piece, his process remains open, moving between material tests, symbolic language, and exploratory thought.

➡️ Nacho Martin (Madrid, 1994) is a visual artist and researcher. His work is rooted in painting, drawing, and installation, and is shaped through a practice grounded in artistic research. He holds a degree in Fine Arts from the Complutense University of Madrid and the University of Castilla-La Mancha, where he is currently pursuing a PhD focused on the links between magical thinking, symbolic perception, and creative processes. His work moves between the narrative and the abstract, the spiritual and the ironic, exploring themes such as belief, skepticism, and the human desire for meaning. He has presented solo exhibitions at spaces such as Galeria Picnic (Madrid), the Antonio Perez Foundation (Cuenca), TRACES and Kunsthochschule (Kassel), as well as at Espacio Kanoko (Cuenca).

During these weeks at the Gabarron Sculpture Park Museum (Wesenberg, Germany), Marc Mateos is advancing his visual research through image and space. While working on the first tests for an installation composed of concrete, wood, and fabric pieces—still in progress—he is also continuing his photographic practice, focused on veiled and fragmentary records.

These images, taken in the park’s surroundings, engage in a dialogue with the installation he is preparing: a relationship between matter, emptiness, and perception that runs through the entire project. In the coming days, he will define the final location of the installation, conceived as a subtle intervention sensitive to the landscape and the passage of light.

➡️ Marc Mateos Monteagudo (Murcia, 2005) is a visual artist and Fine Arts student at the University of Murcia. Since 2023, he has collaborated as an assistant in the Photography course and has developed his practice through both documentary and experimental image-making. He has participated in and co-curated exhibitions such as La mirada emergente (Museo de la Ciudad, Murcia, 2025), and is involved in projects such as the Photographic Archive of the Region of Murcia (2025–2030) and Disegnare Urbino, an international initiative developed in Spain, Italy, and Poland (2026–2028). Since 2025, he has been working in his own studio under the name archivvo_studio.

📍 This participation is part of the collaboration with Blanco Diafano () and the 3rd edition of Abstracta (), the Abstract Art Program in the Region of Murcia (2025).

🌿 Residencies in Progress: Cristina Alamo (.design) at Skulpturenpark Wesenberg

Over the past days, Cristina Alamo has continued to develop her textile practice within the natural setting of the Gabarron Sculpture Park Museum (Wesenberg, Germany). Calm, rhythm, and the passage of light remain central themes in her work, now guided by a palette dominated by greens and blues, influenced by the surrounding forest and lake.

Among the works in progress is a large-scale textile piece (1.8 m), as well as new explorations involving paper, geometry, and constellations. In her notebook, Alamo works with rhythmic forms that she hopes to translate into larger pieces in the coming weeks. The residency thus becomes a space for opening new lines of research and deepening a practice that is attentive, quiet, and in transformation.

➡️ Cristina Alamo (Burgos, 1998) is an industrial designer who graduated from the Polytechnic University of Valencia. Following her time in Berlin, where she focused on textile design and sustainability, her work has centered on exploring the connection between perception, material, and sensory well-being. She is currently developing her practice within the context of this residency in Wesenberg, Germany.

The Cristobal Gabarron Museum: Two Decades as a Space for Creativity, Generations, and Cultures

Founded 20 years ago, the Cristobal Gabarron Museum was conceived as a space for creativity, intergenerational dialogue, and cultural exchange. In keeping with that spirit, it has hosted for the past four years a unique gathering where contemporary art and gastronomy converge as complementary languages in an experience that fuses visual creation with culinary expression.

Curated by Juan Garcia Sandoval, this edition featured conceptual chef Juan Miguel Lopez Baquero, who was tasked with interpreting the work of four artists deeply rooted in the region. The result was a menu designed as an emotional journey through flavors, textures, and visual narratives.

➡️ Cristobal Gabarron, host artist and internationally renowned figure, served as the starting point with "Mar Blanco", a monumental work that inspired the dish "Quietud salina": salt-cured scallop with samphire, nasturtium, and white tea dashi consommé—serene and contemplative in its ex*****on.

➡️ Antonio Gomez Ribelles, artist and writer, explores visual and personal memory in his work. His piece "Los comensales" gave rise to "Donde nunca estuvimos": duck gyozas, candied orange toffee, and pickled fennel—a dish evoking intimacy and the familiar.

➡️ Katarzyna Rogowicz, a multidisciplinary creator, addresses themes such as childhood, identity, and female freedom. Her work "BAJKA", a three-dimensional collage, inspired "Fabula blanca": fermented celeriac with white miso, hazelnut cream, and root pickles—a recipe that reveals the beauty of what often remains hidden.

➡️ Antonio Tapia, an artist focused on emotion and the subconscious, was reinterpreted through "Paisaje neuronal", transformed into the dessert "Dulzura quebrada": vanilla-poached pear, orange blossom rice cream, and fractured honey jelly—a visual and gustatory metaphor for the fragility of memory.

The Cristobal Gabarron Museum Kicks Off Its 20th Anniversary Celebrations with the IV Meeting of Art and Gastronomy

The Cristobal Gabarron Museum inaugurated the celebration of its 20th anniversary yesterday with the IV Meeting of Art and Gastronomy, held at its headquarters in Mula.

👥 The event opened with remarks from the President of the Casa Pintada Foundation, followed by an address from Juan Garcia Sandoval, curator of the Meeting. Subsequently, speeches were delivered by artists and chef Juan Miguel Lopez Baquero. The event concluded with interventions by the Mayor of Mula, Juan Jesus Moreno, and the Regional Minister of the Presidency, Marcos Ortuno.

The menu featured a four-course journey that reinterpreted works of art through taste: salt-cured scallop with samphire inspired by Gabarron's "White sea", fermented celeriac and pickles as a vegetal reading of Rogowicz's "BAJKA", duck gyozas with toffee orange as an evocation of memory in Gomez Ribelles' "The diners", and poached pear with rice cream based on Tapia's "Neural landscape".

The event was attended by regional representatives including Minister Marcos Ortuno, Secretary General for the Environment Enrique Ujaldon, Director General for Tourism Competitiveness and Quality Eva Reverte, and Deputy Secretary of the Department of the Environment Ana Fructuoso. Representing the Mula City Council were Mayor Juan Jesus Moreno and Councillor for Culture Diego Boluda. From the Murcia City Council, Deputy Mayor Marco Antonio Fernandez, Councillor for Culture and Identity Diego Aviles, and Councillor for Youth Talent and Public Spaces Sofia Lopez-Briones were also present.

Participants also included figures from the academic and cultural spheres such as Juan Garcia Sandoval, President of the Museum’s Scientific Committee and Director of MUBAM; Elena Ruiz Valderas, Director of the Roman Theatre Museum of Cartagena; Javier Gomez de Segura, Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts at the UMU; Rodrigo Carreno Rio, cultural manager and Technical Director of Abstracta; Aurora Rodriguez, Programme Coordinator at the Museum and Jose Antonio Ruiz Vivo, journalist and Director of the Forum "Tertulia La Luz".

That event brought together representatives from the worlds of art, culture, society, and public institutions, turning Mula into a national focal point. Today in we share a work that is part of Cristobal Gabarron's most recent creations, currently on view at the Cristobal Gabarron Museum in Mula, as part of the exhibition "Gabarron. Memory's crystal".

This is a selection of pieces from the series "Together We Are Stronger". Using a sober palette and essential composition, these works present diverse, schematic figures that intertwine, support each other, and build a shared image of unity. Each character maintains its own identity, yet at the same time, is part of something greater.

The work conveys a powerful idea: diversity as a driving force for resilience, inclusion, and social transformation. In times marked by fragmentation, Gabarron offers a clear visual message—solidarity is key to a fairer and more equal future.

📍 You can see these works at the Cristobal Gabarron Museum (Mula), as part of the section dedicated to the artist's most recent five years of creation. You can also visit the Las Claras Cultural Center (), where you’ll find a full retrospective of Cristobal Gabarron's most significant works from 1961 to the present.

🥾🌿 Residencies in progress: Nacho Martin (.martin.encinas) at Skulpturenpark Wesenberg

During these first weeks of the residency, Nacho has developed a hybrid practice that combines the visual and the textual: sculptures, drawings, and written notes that feed into each other within the same process of exploration.

Among the works he is currently developing are "Bad luck!", a sculpture in the shape of a boot that acts as a monument to bad luck with an acidic and humorous tone, and "an exactly proportional light", an installation of acetate strips woven through the vegetation in the park’s basement.

➡️ Nacho Martin (Madrid, 1994) is a visual artist and researcher. His work is rooted in painting, drawing, and installation, and unfolds through a practice grounded in artistic research. He holds a degree in Fine Arts from the Complutense University of Madrid and the University of Castilla-La Mancha, where he is currently pursuing a PhD focused on the links between magical thinking, symbolic perception, and creative processes. His work moves between the narrative and the abstract, the spiritual and the ironic, addressing themes such as belief, skepticism, and the desire for meaning.
