Our Southland Family, with very deep sadness, announces the passing of Louise Harrell, Owner here at Southland, on June 24th, 2025. Louise’s bonds of compassion, leadership, and commitment to our family, business and the community were evident in all she did.

When we say “Southland Family”, those who knew her will understand – Southland was a part of her and she a part of it.

During her 44 dedicated years at Southland, Louise guided Southland to become a beloved part of the Moyock and surrounding community. She was a teacher, role model, nurturer, and friend to countless employees, customers, and business associates current and former. She was always there, sharing wisdom and helping those seeking advice.

Louise was the “face” of Southland to so many of our customers, who were served with pride and care. She believed the family business should be a place of comfort, where locals could gather, and find a “friendly ear”.

The overwhelming loss of Louise is something our Southland Family is finding our way through one day at a time. She would want us to move forward. Southland will continue, honoring her memory and ideals.

We invite the community to share memories of Louise in the comments below.

In honor of Louise, as was her wish, we gratefully suggest donations to the American Cancer Society.
