The Darlings are back! We had a wonderful trip to Scotland celebrating Roy’s mum’s life, Eilidh and Jeremy’s engagement, and spending time ALL together as a family! That is the beautiful Jedburgh Abbey behind us! …Never mind that as I landed, Amy texted to say it was sweltering in the store and the prep fridge had died (it’s fixed but it was a rough 24 hours😬) among many other challenges to come back to! Oh, the joys. 🤣 We’re going to be out of a few things this weekend but will soon be back on track for the summer. Hours are business as usual this weekend, 9-4, and Monday we’ll be open 8- roughly 2 depending on how long y’all need us! May you all have a blessed Memorial Day full of gratitude for all who sacrificed everything. ❤️

The Darlings have left the building! Yes, it’s true. Roy and I opened the store this morning (and were immediately slammed with breakfast orders 😍) ...Maeve came midday to take over because we’re leaving for three weeks this evening and hadn’t packed yet. (It’s how we roll. 🤷🏻‍♀️ We got it done plus freshening up Millie May and the entrance.) Anyway, please bear with us- bare bones staff, getting busier (thank God- that was a LONG winter!), and not much back up with all 7 (plus 1) of us going to Scotland to honor the life of Roy’s mum! ❤️

In other news, after quite a strange dry spell (there are LOTS of black gum balls in there) we got a black gum ball ice cream winner! A local lovely on his spring break! Yay!!!

Also, introducing a new local bakery, Miss Heather’s! We have a wonderful basket of cookies for you to try at a smokin’ price. Grab some exquisite cookies and her brochure!

Lastly, check out the new line I just introduced... I am low key obsessed with the cat, the fox, the sheep, and the Jack Russells. Don’t even have a picture of the frogs, the finger puppets... so great. Always something new at Ira’s, and I have lots more up my sleeve for summer!

This week’s post is a shout out to awesomeness. First, to Micheal at New England Custom Carvings for the awesome classic Winnie the Pooh tree carving and second, to our awesome customers. We have the best, most amazing customers. As you may know, we are a dog loving/dog friendly store. Last Saturday it was beautiful out, and we had most of our own dogs running around outside. (The water dish another one of our customers got us a few years ago had gone missing. George and Troy!) One amazing customer came in for something he needed, but before he left, he asked me where to find water. (I am used to this question because we try really hard to stay away from single use plastic so our water is in bottles and boxes instead of plastic.) I showed him where all our water was, not knowing the purpose then ran off because my shift had ended. He literally bought the most bougie of GRANITE dog water dishes and fancy bottled water for THE DOGS. It doesn’t get any sweeter than this. I don’t know his name, but I can’t wait to see him again to thank him from the bottom of our hearts. Can we agree? Best customers ever. Makes it worth everything!!! 😍😍😍

Can we just take a moment here. 😍 This was the second surprise I was talking about! Come visit Pooh and Piglet at Ira’s! (I still need to source a HUNNY jar. It will happen!) I love our village and hope that someday all Pooh’s friends could be scattered around the Mills.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter! That snow was something, wasn’t it? Things are looking brighter, though…

And, here is one of our little surprises I mentioned was coming last week! We’re on the map! Please enjoy our new billboard on Rte 16 heading south! The sweetest lil detour, indeed!!

I’m not sure if the WMUR country store contest is still happening, but if it’s not too late, we would be honored for you to vote (link in the last post).

The other surprise is coming next week. Hint…. ‘Oh, bother.’ 🤣🍯🐝

Happy Easter! We will be closed Easter Sunday and pray you all have a blessed day. Open as usual tomorrow with plenty of delights to fill Easter baskets! 🐣🐰🍫(Including nut-free and vegan chocolate options) A very hopeful sign of spring: MOE’S WORMS are back in stock AND Fly Fishing Fudge ice cream is back in season!

Next week I’ll share some other exciting news. If you’re driving along Rte. 16, maybe you’ll figure out some of it. 😉

Happy St. Paddy’s!! It’s getting a little silly over here… Eilidh just created … “the corned beerf” 🤣🤣🤣at Jeremy’s request. Come on down! And if this high end cocktail doesn’t appeal, we have classic Reubens, corned beef steak and cheese, green eggs and ham, leprechaun mimosas, and shamrock shakes all week! AND chocolate coins… every year around this time I get a request for chocolate coins. You ask, I make it happen!

Just had a cancellation for tonight’s chef night if anyone wants a zillion course Italian dinner created by Chef Christina! Message or call!

It was a GOOD day at Ira's ‘sports pub’. Scotland beat France, and Italy beat England (I don't want to brag but I’m 1% Italian- so... win/win!!) Well done, boys!

Have you tried breakfast at Ira's? If not, may I recommend giving it a shot? Perfectly grilled burritos, small batch pancakes with homemade maple butter and Sugar Shaun's Maple syrup
(No fake stuff here), stackers, breakfast sandwiches, scramblers, muffins, bagels, açaí bowls, yogurt parfaits with house made maple pecan granola, mimosas, lattes, g/f and vegan options... hungry yet?

I forgot to check my list today but I think I might have a couple slots left for the final chef night of the winter series next week! Message or call to reserve.
