Do you know what we hear so very often? …like several times a week, particularly in the summer …“I’ve driven by this place for years. It’s amazing. I don’t know what took me so long.” What are you waiting for? 🤣 Come on in!!

Kids love, and I mean, LOVE it. We have a play area, complimentary Ms. Pacman (no quarters needed), a gumball machine where a black gumball wins a free ice cream (quarters needed, but I’ve been known to pass out lots of quarters for fun), a butterfly garden where they can be a butterfly, fluffernutter sandwiches, Shirley Temples, penny candy, and side walk chalk!

Grown ups love it too! Allllll the yummy food, toys, gifts, convenience items, adult beverages, and the most relaxing porch ever.

The last of our summer chefs series with Chef Christina is Saturday, August 9, 6 pm, 4 course set menu, $65 pp. This old general store is transformed into a fine dining establishment-A really fun date or group night. Message me or call the store to reserve your spot. Seating extremely limited. There won’t be another chefs series until winter, 2026! Now is the time!

We had such a sweet time in the Mills for the parade! Now that the big holiday weekend is over, what are your plans for this Saturday, July 12 at 6 pm? We are having a Chefs Night with Chef Christina and have a surprising number of seats still available. We will transform the store into a lovely restaurant for a set 4 courses. Soooo looking forward to tomorrow. This will be our 6th anniversary and the first without our Mayor and ribbon cutter, dear Gloria! The void is palpable. We are still standing! (pandemic included, minor miracle!)

Notice the latest adorable black gumball winner😍😍😍. A free ice cream makes life super sweet. (parental compensation- Ms. PacMan is free, there’s a play area, and a garden where your kids can become butterflies. Also, the glorious Waumbeck Park is steps away!) We ❤️ MSweet Birds

Sweet Birds just dropped off, wait for it, red, white and blue macarons, hot dog macarons, and hamburger macarons!!! If you want to be the star of the bbq pot luck, may I recommend coming by tomorrow? We are open 9-12 only!! We will have coffee and food for the most special ‘biggest little parade’ you’ll ever see! Don’t blink. Starts at 10. Allllll welcome to jMilton Free Public Library Public Library by 9:30 to participate in the parade!!! Your kids will NOT be disappointed. Directly after the parade, come to Ira’s! We will have prizes for the following categories:

Welp, Millie May Miller, our resident scarecrow is beach ready in her sun hat, sunglasses, and bikini… so all we need now is… 🌞. I believe we’re going on a 15th consecutive weekend of 🌧️!!! Oh, Mister Sun, please shine down on us!!

Black gumballs are stocked, and we have had several lucky winners of a free ice cream lately- gotta play to win!!

Meet the Employees: final edition!! From our very oldest employees to our very newest! Eilidh and Maeve are two of our daughters and were our very first employees along with Shannon who helped us open almost 6 years ago! They helped design our OG menu and executed it beautifully. Nowadays, Eilidh can be found propping up the bar or rocking on the porch with a coffee or prosecco in hand, but she will always and forever be one of our ‘adjunct’. She can fill in with flare. Our Maeve still takes a shift here and there. She’ll talk your ear off and leave you entertained and well fed simultaneously! Penelope is my stellar niece and has just had her first few shifts! Shes gonna do amazing!

Meet the Employees, week 6! Meet the gorgeous mother-daughter duo- Maybellene and Julie! This will be May’s first summer with us before jetting off to university. Julie is one of the ‘adjunct’ friends who help me out in a pinch. I cannot tell you how grateful I have been for Julie through these past few years when I was so shortstaffed and frankly, exhausted-she is an angel. She also is the caretaker of Millie May Miller, our resident scarecrow… summer outfit coming soon!😎

Summer Chefs Series with Chef Christina is going to be amazing! These fill quickly so sign up (call, message, or pop in soon!) July 12 and August 9, 6 pm, $65 pp, 4 courses of deliciousness.

So, I have been introducing staff the past few weeks, and today I want to honor my ‘adjunct employees’- the ones who don”t technically work here but step up when I need a hand. We were in (glorious) Scotland for 2 1/2 weeks and my peeps stepped up and always do when they can! It’s not easy staffing a general
store, and I am so grateful. Natalia, Nicole, thank you! Couldn’t do it without my village!

Memorial Day weekend hours: Saturday 9-4, Sunday 9-4, Monday, a short and sweet 9-12!!! The parade is at 10- a powerful way to honor those who sacrificed their very lives for our freedom and the men and women who fought alongside the ones who didn’t come home. Marty, our Marine, has decided to open the store for the parade so y’all can have some breakfast sandwiches and coffee!

Also, perhaps we left it too late, but the first of our summer chefs’ series with Chef Christina is Saturday, May 31. Call or message and reserve soon or we may need to postpone!! $65 pp, 6 pm, 4 course set menu, always amazing!! Menu attached…

Lastly, shout out to the New Hampshire Farm Museum - non-profit of the year!! I dont want to brag, but that handsome man to the left is my Daddy. This place is amazing and greatly enriched the lives of our own children as they grew. May I recommend learning more and donating to their cause!! A perfect summer outing=the Farm Museum and Ira’s!!

Meet the employees, week 4! Meet Mojo! Mojo will greet you with the biggest wags that almost lift him off the ground and give you ALL the love. He is as 'thrilled to be here' as his mama, Amy, who also does a thing or two around the store 🤣. Amy and Mojo's Spotify playlist is Phish radio, always! So if you like the groovy, mellow Phish/ Bob Marley vibe, come in when they're working! In her 'spare' time (there isn't any), Amy is Super Mom to her 2 awesome kids, a dedicated teacher, horse enthusiast, and pet/ farm sitter. We are thrilled Amy and Mojo are 'thrilled to be here!'

Meet the staff, week 3.... we have ROYALTY living here in the Mills, and the Queen herself works at Ira's!! Introducing Sophia, Nute prom queen. (And there she is with Summer, introduced last week. ❤️ ALSO, prom king is from the Mills as well and he was Ira’s very first customer back on our July 4, 2019 grand opening-lemonheads!!- The joys of small village livin’- watching the kids grow!) In her spare time from her royal duties, Sophia enjoys camping with her family, and also, she's wicked smaht. She'll be away most of the summer at a prestigious academic program. We'll miss her but so proud!!

Seems we’ve been getting quite a bit of weather this week. I hadn’t noticed as I’m in sunny (yes, sunny!!) Scotland. Thankful to my peeps for keeping things going!

Summer chef’s series with Chef Christina TBA soon. 3 dates, set 4 course menu, extremely limited seating, $65 pp. Our next date is Saturday, May 31! Menu to follow.
