The Woodbury Market Product of the Week!

Kopke Port Wines! Kopke is the worlds oldest port wine producer, starting in 1638. Port is a fortified sweet wine with flavors of raspberry, blackberry, caramel, cinnamon, and chocolate sauce. Ruby Port has more fruit flavor while Tawny Port has more caramel and nut flavors due to its extended time in oak barrels. Port wine pairs wonderfully with richly flavored cheeses (including blue cheese and washed-rind cheeses), chocolate and caramel desserts, salted and smoked nuts, and even sweet-smoky meats. Looking for something a little special? Try a Kopke Port. Cheers!

UPDATE FROM THE BROKER, Crown DOES make Blackberry, However, it has not been brought into inventory by the State of Ohio, so sorry, you will have to travel out of state for now. 😭 Your best bet is to go strait to the distiller's web site to check on new products. A 100% merlot wine from Bordeaux, France. This garnet red wine has flavors of blackcurrant and vanilla, a velvety finish with a nice balance of tannins and acidity. This wine will be offered at our next Wine and Beer Tasting on Saturday October 14th. Cheers!

Yuengling Octoberfest!!! Like it or not, summer is winding down. October is creeping up on us and Yuengling is ready to celebrate by offering their Oktoberfest as a homage to their German Heritage. Scuola Grande Valpolicella Ripasso! From the Valpolicella region of Italy made of 95% Corvina grapes with some Rondinella and Molinara grapes to finish things off. The process of Ripasso is to add the left over grape pulp and skins from an earlier batch of wine to richen the flavor of a new batch. The Woodbury Market Product of the Week!

Mayu Pedro Ximenez! Pedro Ximenez is a white grape varietal indigenous to Chile. The grapes are hand picked from 76 year old vines grown at elevations of over 6300 feet. This wine offers appealing floral and fruit aromas, with flavors balanced by fresh acidity, minerality and a long finish. This unoaked refreshing white pairs well with most any shellfish or seafood, or just enjoy it by itself on a warm summer evening. We will be offering this wine wine Friday, July 14th at our monthly wine tasting. Cheers!

The Woodbury Market Product of the Week!

Umbrella Not Included! Zaftig Brewing’s limited edition smoothie style ale was inspired by a brew master’s vacation to a sunny beach sipping tropical drinks with little umbrellas. Jimmy took a huge amount of pineapple and tangerine and added it to an ale to bring the beach to you. 6.5% ABV. This beer shouts out summer, slightly sweet with tastes of tropical fruit. Serve this one ice cold, but remember, that little paper umbrella is not included. Cheers!

La Crema Chardonnay! Bringing out the “whites” for summer. This powerful Chardonnay hits your nose with aromas of Meyer lemon, pear, and white flowers that are supported by subtle hints of oak, followed by flavors of crisp apple, tangerine, pineapple, and oak. On the palate, the wine is CONCENTRATED and juicy with a long lingering finish. Pairs wonderfully with shrimp, lobster, fish and chicken. Try it with some cold shrimp cocktail out on the patio. After two years of Woodbury Market Drink of the Week, we are running out of ideas for easy to make at home cocktails. We have decided to continue to tempt your palette with different Woodbury Market Products of the Week. Each week we will highlight a product we believe you might enjoy learning about and consider giving a try. This weeks product is Kentucky Breakfast Stout (KBS). Brewed at Founders Brewing Co. In Grand Rapids Michigan, this imperial stout is brewed with massive amounts of coffee and chocolate and then bourbon barrel-aged to perfection. It is incredibly silky and full-bodied with notes of vanilla, cocoa, roasted coffee and charred oak. KBS comes in with an ABV of 12% and IBUs of 45. KBS will be one of the featured beers at this Friday’s Woodbury Market Wine and Beer Tasting. Cheers!

The Woodbury Market Drink of the Week!

Champagne or Sparkling Wine! It’s “out with the old and in with the new”, a time to celebrate, and the bubbles in sparkling wine symbolize joy and abundance making it the perfect toast to start out the new year. If you’re not a big fan of straight sparkling wine, add a bit of fruit juice to make a Mimosa. Or try adding some gin and lemon juice for a French 75. Aperol, St Germain, or bitters can all be added to spruce up your sparkling wine. Hope you’ll give sparkling wine a try to ring in your new year. Cheers!
