This is not good news for Beverly Zingarella

Coca-Cola announced it is ending the production of Tab after a nearly 60-year run. The soda giant’s first diet cola was a pop-culture icon in the 1970s and early ’80s.

Launched in 1963, Tab was sweetened with saccharin, which gave the drink an astringent, metallic taste. The flavor was polarizing. Some hated it; others loved it.

In the 1970s, the drink took off and by 1980, Tab had a commanding lead over all other diet sodas. Eventually Diet Coke eclipsed Tab, but the beverage company kept the throwback brand alive because of customer relations. Tab fans were relentless, calling Coca-Cola headquarters and signing petitions if they couldn’t find their soda.

A very sad day as I walked out of the Loading Dock Wines & Spirits for the last time yesterday. My goal was always to make the Loading Dock the best liquor store anyone could shop at. Not the biggest but the best and I think we accomplished that over the last 10 year I owned the store.

When I purchased the store in December of 2005 it was dirty and overpriced and under stocked but I saw the potential in the space. Over the years we doubled the size of the store taking over the entire building , tripled our selection with the help of customers like yourself asking for their favorite products. Hired friendly people that you felt were family members when you came in and in turn grew sales five fold over the years.

The property has been sold and I understand the building will be taken down sometime next year. I know many of you had skateboarded in the building back in the 1980's and now purchased your liquor here. Another piece of Milford history will be lost as the Post road transforms into just another strip of National chain stores like so many other cities across our country.

One last time I thank everyone for your support over the years!!!

Dear long-time loyal Loading Dock Wine & Spirits customers. With the opening of Total Wines & More last week along with the ever changing CT. Liquor laws favoring large non-family owned businesses Beverly and I have made the very difficult decision to close the store. After all, there is only so much of the pie that can be truly divided up between all the liquor stores in Milford. Thus, we feel we can no longer run a viable business in the future.
Our landlord has the property for sale and we have the opportunity to opt out of our lease. Beverly and I would like to thank the many longtime customers of the store that we have come to know personally over the year. This is the hardest part of closing not seeing you every day. The liquor industry in Connecticut is changing and stores like ours will soon become the exception not the norm. We thank you for the support over the past 14 year.

It's a great day for a beer lover at The Loading Dock! From Clown Shoes Beer, we have Rex, a barrel aged red ale, and another drop of Lemon Drop Space Cake, exclusive to CT! We have Autumn Maple from The Bruery, a double brown ale brewed with maple syrup and spices. We also have Oskar Blues Brewery's new year round IPA, and Ballast Point Brewing & Spirits's Even Keel session ipa. Finally, we have some barrel aged Ovila from Sierra Nevada Brewing! All available now, but some not for long!

New Products at The Loading Dock! We have New Holland Brewing Co.'s Incorrigible Reserve, a limited Berliner Weiss style ale that has an 86 on Beer Advocate. We have Captain Lawrence Brewing Company's Palate Shifter Imperial IPA with a Beer Advocate score of 91. Next, we start the pumpkin and Oktoberfest Beers for this fall. First, we have Two Road's Roadsmary's Baby, a rum aged pumpkin beer. We have Shipyard Brewing Company's Smashed Pumpkin in four packs. To round out the Pumpkin Beers, we have Southern Tier Brewing Company's Pumpking, an imperial pumpkin beer with a Beer Advocate Score of 90. New to Connecticut, we have Yuengling's Oktoberfest beer six packs. To round out the new beers we have Weihenstepahaner's Traditional Festbier, which received an 83 on Beer Advocate. Finally we have the brand new Jameson Irish Whiskey's Caskmate. This is Jameson's Irish Whiskey aged in Stout Barrels from a local craft brewery.
