🌿🚬 INSIDE THE BLEND: VOL. II • BURLEY

This Monday, the Miami Pipe Club continues our Inside the Blend series with an exploration of Burley, one of the foundational to***cos of traditional American pipe mixtures. 🍂

Last month we began the series with Virginias, progressing from individual Bright and Red Virginia components into finished Virginia blends. This month we'll use the same approach with Burley, tasting the component to***cos first before moving into a finished blend.

Our smoking order:

1️⃣ Sutliff TS5 530 Rough Cut Burley

We begin with a White Burley component in a rough cut, establishing a baseline for Burley's characteristic flavor and smoking qualities.

2️⃣ Cornell & Diehl Burley Ribbon Cut

Next we'll compare C&D's mixture of specially processed Kentucky and Tennessee Burleys. In addition to differences in the leaf and processing, we'll have an opportunity to consider how the very different rough and ribbon cuts affect the smoking experience. 🌿

3️⃣ Cornell & Diehl Pegasus

Our progression concludes with a finished Burley blend. Pegasus combines three Burleys with two Virginias and a touch of unsweetened Black Cavendish. After smoking the Burley components individually, we'll compare how their character carries into the finished mixture and what the additional to***cos contribute. 🐎🍂
