Post from Garrett Loeffler
My family received a letter from Toledo-Lucas County Plan Commission regarding a public hearing Wednesday, May 28, 2025 at One Government Center, 9:00 AM.
Richfield Township Zoning Commission is requesting an amendment to the Richfield Township Zoning Resolution to add Section 7.29 "Advanced Manufacturing" to supplemental and conditional use to the Central Ave. Overlay. This includes 500 ft. from centerline of Central Ave. BUT they also have included an expansion area to include south of Central Ave. with Lathrop to the east and Fulton Lucas to the west bounded by Bancroft St. There is also a second expansion of Central Ave. and Berkey Southern (St. Rt. 295) to a depth of 2500 ft.
The first expansion would include the Loeffler and Buckenmeyer farms. These are 5 generation farms. My Great Grandparents settled here from Germany. The victorian home on Central is their homestead.
WE DO NOT WANT A DATA CENTER!!! Our family has been hounded by opportunist trying to buy our land. WE DO NOT WANT TO SELL. I have spoken to their representatives. There plan is to tap in to the aquifer and not to buy city water. This could affect your wells. Richfield Township's Zoning regulations are not strong enough to enforce noise and energy drain. These data centers require a large electrical service and water supply for cooling the servers. Foreign investors do not always abide by zoning and we could end up in court fighting the noise.
We need your support. Please contact the Township Trustees as soon as possible to get your voices heard before this Wednesday hearing.
We were not contacted in advance about this proposal. The only notice was the letter mailed May 19, 2025.
