Please help, spread the word to follow CDOT recommended routes around the I-70 closure! Unfortunately Google doesn’t understand how un-paved roads can be rough and impassable for anything except 4 wheel drive vehicles.

UPDATE: Hagerman Pass is experiencing significant congestion and tow trucks are already there helping travelers. Google maps is sending travelers and passenger vehicles that direction. Please avoid using Hagerman Pass road.

There are no paved or easily passable ways in and out of the Roaring Fork valley to and from points east and south. If you need to go east, you need to go west first. You may even save time.

With the recent closures of I-70, Independence Pass, and the Eagle-Thomasville Road (Forest Service Road 400), it's essential that travelers impacted by the Grizzly Creek Fire follow CDOT's recommended routes shown here.

Hagerman Pass is open but is not recommended for passenger vehicles, delivery trucks, semis and any through travelers. It is an extremely rough, long, and narrow road for high-clearance 4WD vehicles only.

Mobile apps are leading drivers to routes that are not passable. Please help get the word out so we can keep our remaining open roads free of congestion.

We understand the frustration with travel restrictions and drive times. Thanks for doing your part during this difficult time.
