After a years-long effort by the American Single Malt Whiskey Commission American Single Malt has officially been ratified as the newest category of American Whiskey on December 18, 2024. Minden Mill Master Distiller Joe O’Sullivan has been a pioneer in the movement for category standard adoption, having apprenticed under Steve McCarthy, who is widely recognized as being the creator of American Single Malt in the 1990s.

Today, Joe furthers the category’s innovation as one of the few U.S. distillers making American Single Malt entirely on a single estate, cultivating the distinctive terroir of Nevada’s High Desert region. Minden Mill remains committed to furthering American Single Malt through its membership with the Commission and educating consumers and trade on whiskey’s newest chapter.

Pio Cesare has been producing wine for more than 100 years and through generations. The tradition began in 1881, when Pio Cesare started gathering grapes in his vineyards and purchasing those of some selected and reliable farmers in the hills of Barolo and Barbaresco districts.
At Pio Cesare, there has always been a conviction that great wine can come only from the finest grapes and the winery's output has always been limited through adherence to the highest standards. Pio Cesare limits its production by using only the most mature and healthy grapes. The ripening of the grapes is carefully monitored and the harvest is rigidly controlled with each grape selected by hand.
Today, the estate is managed by Pio Boffa, great-grandson of Pio Cesare. Under his stewardship, the wines of Pio Cesare have become famous throughout the world. Great strides have been made in quality, and single vineyard offerings have dazzled the wine press.

-A classic style Barolo. Excellent structure, harmony and elegance. Soft tannins and balanced fruit. Approachable, but with a very long ageing potential.

-A traditional vintage delivering fresh fruits and beautiful aromas, with great structure and complexity, intense color and a balanced acidity, with sharp tannins but already approachable—all the classic components of the great outstanding vintages of Barbaresco.

The vines on the property have an average age of 45 years; their roots are dug deep in the layers of Pauillac’s gravelly terrain, specifically situated in the lieu-dit known as “Plateau de Padarnac”. The estate produces only one cuvée, a robust wine that is composed of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot. Monsieur Mirande takes a scrupulous approach to his work in the vineyard as well as in the cellar: he is moving towards organic vineyard management, harvests his grapes manually, and employs indigenous yeasts in fermentation. The end result is a special wine, a classic Pauillac marked by the hand and place that crafted it.
