Team Member Spotlight: Tonya B., Store Director – Ramsey, MN
Tonya B. began her journey with Coborn’s in 1998, starting as a cashier. Over the years, she’s taken on a variety of roles across the company, growing both personally and professionally into the inspiring leader she is today.
“The people have always been the best part,” Tonya shares. “I’ve built lifelong friendships here, and I truly enjoy coming to work every day to engage with my team.”
Her growth within the company has been fueled by the opportunities Coborn’s provides. “Coborn’s promotes from within and really invests in people through enrichment programs. That kind of encouragement makes a huge difference.”
A lesson that’s stuck with her throughout the years? Adaptability in leadership. “Everyone learns differently,” Tonya says. “One of the most valuable skills I’ve developed is learning how to tailor my training style to help each individual team member succeed.”
Tonya credits her former Store Director, Mitch, for recognizing her potential and helping her overcome self-doubt. “He leveraged my strengths and helped me believe in myself. His support played a huge role in my journey to becoming a Store Director.”
Today, Tonya continues to grow through Coborn’s Who Not What leadership program. “It’s helped me reflect on who I am as a leader and who I want to be. I’ve experienced personal growth because of it.”
Like many leaders, Tonya has faced internal challenges. “Finding balance between work and home life was something I had to learn. Not letting work consume you once you leave is key to long-term success.”
Her advice for others starting out at Coborn’s: “Put yourself out there. Cross-train. Explore what you enjoy and take advantage of training programs. There’s always room to grow.”
“I’ve enjoyed the friendships I’ve made along the way. Encouraging and supporting one another is what has made my experience at Coborn’s so meaningful.”
