Welcome to Episode 1 on OnlyStans. This week’s pick: Hard Truth Bourbon-because your palate deserves better than gas station bourbon.

An amazing sleeper bourbon that deserves way more attention. Mash bill: 69% corn (nice), 19% wheat, and 12% malted barley. Crafted by the former master distiller from Peerless, now operating out of Nashville, Indiana. Not MGP—and it’s a sweet mash bourbon, which only a handful of distilleries are doing.

Flavor-wise, it’s sweet and fruity right from the start. The palate is impressively complex for a Bottled-in-Bond: very red fruit-forward with loads of caramel, finishing with a sweet cereal note. I’ve personally gone through nearly two cases. Just an outstanding pour.
