There’s a lot more to the Town of Matewan, WV than the trails.

We’ve added a new Matewan History section to the FeudLine website, built to give visitors a better look at the town and the history behind the place they’re riding through.

From the Hatfield-McCoy Feud and the 1920 Battle of Matewan, to the devastating Tug Fork floods, the floodwall, historic downtown, and even Matewan’s place in film and television, a lot of American history is packed into just a few blocks.

One of our favorite parts: a 1977 flood photo on the page actually shows the building that is home to FeudLine Beverage & Supply today, surrounded by floodwater.

Whether you’ve been coming to Matewan for years or you’re planning your first trip, check it out. You might look at the town a little differently next time you ride through.
