One of my favorite bottles I’ve opened this month — Mixtura Mix Tinto 2021 from Galicia, Spain.

60% Mencía, 40% Caiño. Wild red fruit, herbs, floral aromatics, and a fresh, coastal lift that makes you want another glass immediately. It drinks way above its price and brings serious character without being heavy.

One of the best red wines I’ve had under $20!

Clos des Mourres “À Table” 2022 is bright, savory, wildly drinkable southern French deliciousness—from a tiny biodynamic producer doing everything right. Cherry, thyme, pepper. Zero nonsense.

$19, and it drinks like double that. You want this on your table, in your glass, and in your life.

**Sven Enderle’s solo debut is here and it’s everything.**

After years of making some of Germany’s most soulful Pinot under Enderle & Moll, Sven’s first vintage under his own name hits that same high mark. The 2022 Pinot Noir is light, earthy, and deeply drinkable. I’ve been pouring it at home and loving every glass. The Keuper Pinot Noir brings a little more gravity without losing lift.

Minimal sulfur, no makeup, all heart.

Pure Champagne.

Thomas Perseval’s Art’Terre 2021 is one of those bottles that makes you slow down and pay attention — organically farmed, razor-sharp, and loaded with mineral precision. 40% Pinot Noir, 40% Meunier, and 20% Chardonnay. The grapes are sourced from three distinct parcels with northeast to north exposure, situated on clay-limestone and sandy-limestone soils in Chamery, a Premier Cru region in the Montagne de Reims. This is every bit as serious as it sounds.

This is Champagne for real food and real wine lovers.

🚨Rare Beaujolais drop🚨
One of the most exciting new names in the region, Mai Roblin-Bazin is crafting tiny amounts of soulful, site-specific Juliénas — and we just got our hands on her 2023 Les Soubletons.

Wild herbs, lifted red fruit, fine structure… this is Gamay with a Burgundy-level glow-up.
Only a few bottles available. $73.
No hype, just the real thing.

Axel Domont used to chase mountain stages in the Alps. Now he’s bottling that same electric energy. Flamme Rouge VdF 2022 is the wine equivalent of a solo breakaway—light, lifted, and gone before you know it just like . It’s juicy, chillable, and just 11.5%, which means you can pop one post-ride, post-grill, or just because you’re feeling très sportif.

The finish line? That’s your fridge.

Chenin lovers, this one’s for you.
Champalou’s 2023 Vouvray Sec is back — and it’s just as zippy, textural, and painfully underpriced as ever. Think pear skins, white flowers, a touch of beeswax, and that classic Loire minerality humming underneath it all.

A perfect summer white with real character. $28, drinks like $40.
We have it. You want it. Come get it.

📣 A Big Update from The Wine Store

After 10 years of running The Wine Store as a full-time retail shop, I’ve made the tough (but ultimately exciting) decision to close the store in its current form. The last day of regular retail hours will be Sunday, August 10th.

Running a full-time brick-and-mortar shop in Marlboro has been a labor of love, but with limited foot traffic and high overhead, it’s time to evolve. The Wine Store isn’t going away — it’s shifting into something smarter, more focused, and just as passionate about good wine.

Here’s what’s next:

🍷 Online Orders Continue (With Even More Perks!)
For those of you who already shop with us online — nothing is changing. In fact, expect more: more emails, more offers, and more curated selections from producers we’re excited about. We’ll still offer in-store pickup and keep our local wine community well-stocked and well-informed.

🕰️ Limited Shop Hours + By Appointment
We’ll maintain limited hours for pickups and casual browsing, plus offer private wine appointments if you’re looking for something specific (or just want to talk wine).

📚 Wine Classes Starting in September
We’ll begin hosting small, hands-on wine classes right here in the shop — focused on tasting, terroir, and giving you the tools to understand what’s in your glass (and why it matters).

To the Marlboro community and the greater Hudson Valley:
Thank you.
Thank you for every bottle, every conversation, every toast. Your support over the last decade has made this little shop something really special.

This isn’t the end of The Wine Store — it’s a new beginning. Same passion, same commitment to good wine, and a lot more flexibility.

If you have questions, want to stock up before August 10th, or just want to say hi, come by we’d love to see you.

With deep gratitude and plenty of wine still to come,
Joe

From mentees of Mark Angeli at Domaine de La Sansonniere, Clos des Breteches is the new project of Mélanie Grenouilleau and Romain Nicolas who farm 1.2 hectares of old Chenin vines in Beaulieu sur Layon.

While there are several producers in the market that have worked with Angeli, Clos des Breteches is the greatest we have tasted since Stephane Bernaudeau!

These are biodynamic/organic old-vine Chenin beauties from Clos des Breteches, each with its own personality — from pure & fresh to terroir-driven and elegantly mineral.

Quantities are tiny and once they’re gone—they’re gone.
