I’m going to be honest, this one stings a little.

Earlier this year, I reached out to the Louisiana Lt. Governor’s office to share something I had worked hard to create through my small business, Cypress Path Co. — Wander Louisiana: A State Park Passport. I wasn’t just sharing my product; I was proposing an opportunity to collaborate and encourage more people to get outdoors and explore Louisiana’s beautiful state parks.

Unfortunately, I never received a response.

Today, I saw the announcement of Louisiana’s new State Parks Passport Program, where visitors can collect stamps and earn prizes for completing their adventures.

For those who don’t know, I created my own passport book featuring all 21 Louisiana state parks, along with a collection of individual state park stickers to commemorate visits. I also developed a reward program where anyone who completes all 21 parks can receive a free commemorative sticker celebrating their accomplishment.

Seeing such a similar initiative announced after I had reached out about collaborating is honestly disheartening.

Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE seeing Louisiana encourage people to explore our state parks. That’s exactly why I created Cypress Path Co. and these products in the first place.

But as a small business owner, it’s disappointing to put so much time, creativity, and heart into something, reach out hoping to work together, and never even receive an acknowledgment.

I don’t know whether my proposal had any influence on this new program, and I’m not claiming that it did. I just wish there had been an opportunity for a conversation.

Regardless, I’m proud of what I’ve created, and I’ll continue encouraging people to get outside, explore, and make memories along the way. 🌿

This series was created to bring together some of the things I love most—nature, creativity, mindfulness, movement, and meaningful connection.

✨ August 21 — Create Your Trail Journal
Build your own journal from scratch and create a place to hold your adventures, reflections, sketches, memories, and pieces of the outdoors.

🌲 September 26 — Forest Bathing Experience
Slow down, engage your senses, and experience the outdoors in a more intentional way.

🥾 October 17 — Guided Hiking Retreat at Bogue Chitto State Park
A day of hiking, connection, reflection, and intentionally making space for yourself in nature.

🌿 Made for the places you wander.

Here’s a little peek at what we’ll be creating during our upcoming Create Your Trail Journal experience!

We’ll build our journals from scratch, using leaf rubbings, pressed greenery, torn papers, natural textures, and other elements inspired by the outdoors. Every journal will be completely different—and that’s the point. 🤎

Then take it with you. Toss it in your hiking bag or camper and fill it with trail notes, sketches, pressed leaves, memories, reflections, campground finds, and little pieces of the places you explore.

This is the first experience in our Nature Within Series—a journey through creativity, mindfulness, and time outdoors.
