An unruly tourist was arrested and charged with assault and petty theft after an altercation yesterday at Rocky & Carlo’s, a popular restaurant located in Chalmette.

On this Day: Leah Chase, also known as the Queen of Creole Cuisine, passed away on June 1, 2019 at the age of 96. Her restaurant, Dooky Chase, was known as a gathering place during the 1960s during the Civil Rights Movement here in New Orleans. She was also an author, televison personality, and advocate for both African-American Art and Creole cooking.

Leah Chase was the inspiration for Disney's The Princess and the Frog's Princess Tianna. The New Orleans Jazz Museum recently worked with Disney's Imagineers to bring Tianna's Bayou Adventure attraction to life with authentic artifacts and insights at Disney World's Magic Kingdom (soon to replace Spash Mountain).
