Green, orange, amethyst. Same rug, same ceiling fan, three very different evenings.

This is the El Septimo trio we point people to when they ask where to start with the house. The Excepcion Esmeralda is the shortest of the three and the one for an hour you actually have. The Bomba Orange, the one with the pointed head, is built for a slow, deliberate draw. The Kolosso Amethyst is the big, layered one you save for a night with nowhere to be.

All three come from El Septimo's long-aged Costa Rican to***co, and all three are in stock right now.

Named for the goddess of fortune, and built like it.

This is the Maccarrone Dea Tyche vertical humidor cabinet, made by hand in Tuscany. The woman on the door is marquetry, which means there is no paint involved. Each color is a separate piece of dyed or precious wood veneer, fitted by hand and finished under a deep, hand-polished lacquer.

Then the door opens. Spanish cedar trays from top to bottom, a drawer holding the hygrometer and the humidifiers, and a plaque that reads Limited Edition 02/24.

It is a cigar humidor for a collection that deserves a proper home, and it is a piece of furniture you would keep for the door alone.

Each one handmade by Brizard & Co in Southern California.

Most people start with a case or a cutter and build from there. The nice part of a matched collection is that nothing you add later looks like an afterthought.

Racing Black and Lime Green, the whole set in one frame.

This is the Brizard and Co. collection that stops people in the shop. Black leather with a lime green stripe running through everything: the Airflow humidor, the Gatsby table lighter, the Venezia and Sottile pocket lighters, the Show Band three cigar case, two Havana Travelers, and the full run of cutters, Double Guillotine, Elite, V and the Trilogy spear. Every piece is made by hand in Brizard's Southern California workshop, and every piece is cut to match the others, so you can build the set one item at a time or take it all at once.

The green is not shy. That is the point. It reads like the paint on a track car, and against the matte black leather it looks expensive rather than loud.

The Brizard and Co Positano collection, every piece on one table.

Turquoise leather against African mahogany, finished the same way across the whole line, so the cutter matches the case and the case matches the lighter. Most people assemble an accessory set one piece at a time over several years, and it always looks assembled. This does not.

Ninety nine pieces in blue, each one numbered.

Les Chaînes de l'Amour is the first S.T. Dupont lighter to carry handcrafted fine marquetry. Maccarrone cut the front panel by hand from burl walnut and tulipwood, five generations into the craft, and laid it flush. The chains emblem is Arturo Fuente's OpusX in 24k gold. The body is S.T. Dupont's own diamond head guilloche, cut in Faverges since 1872, with the hinged cap collectors know by ear.

It arrives complete: numbered plaque, certificate, blue ostrich sleeve, embroidered OpusX pouch, presentation box.

There is a red one.

Same edition, same first: no S.T. Dupont lighter before this line carried hand cut marquetry. Burl walnut and tulipwood, assembled by hand into one continuous panel and finished flush, with the OpusX emblem in 24k gold and its lacquer chains sitting on top. Everything around it is pure Dupont, gold finish, diamond head guilloche, hinged cap, flint wheel.

Ninety nine numbered pieces in red. Each one arrives with its numbered plaque, certificate, red ostrich sleeve, embroidered OpusX pouch and presentation box, so the set stays complete for whoever inherits it.

The red is warmer in person than any photo gets across. Against that burl grain it stops looking like a color choice and starts looking like the only place the panel could have ended.
