The Macallan Sherry Oak 25 years old forms part of our Sherry Oak range which features a series of single malt whiskies matured exclusively in hand-picked sherry seasoned oak casks from Jerez for richness and complexity. This special single malt delivers an intensely rich and full flavour character, citrus, dried fruits and wood smoke.

This distinguished single malt is matured exclusively for twenty-five years in Oloroso sherry seasoned oak casks from Jerez, Spain. Laying undisturbed in the same casks for a quarter of a century, the maturing spirit transforms to create this luxurious single malt whisky characterised by its rich flavours of vanilla, dried fruits and ginger spice with a long finish and rich mahogany colour.

The Macallan 25 Year Old Sherry Oak won the gold award at the International Spirits Challenge and with a single sip, you’ll see why. This exceptional quality dram is a firm favourite in the global whisky community and received 100/100 from the Beverage Tasting Institute in 1999 – wow! The nose, this fine expression is quite fruity, with orange and pear aromas, along with sweet spice. This develops and becomes somewhat smoky with caramel and honey tones. The palate is wonderfully malty in the perfect way, with some notes of dried apricot, figs and prunes as well as cinnamon, nutmeg and honey.

The finish is long and rich with more spice notes, oak and some light smoke on the tail.

This most rare of Macallan's came into being as a result of the instinct and foresight shown by master whisky maker Bob Dalgarno.
Back in 2006 he and his team were crafting the annual release of the 30 Year Old Sherry Oak, which involved combining the finest spirit from 27 specially selected casks into nine 'marrying' casks.
Bob was inspired to fill a tenth cask, which was laid back down and allowed to continue to mature and develop. Assessed again in 2011 it was left for a further 5 years at which point it was deemed ready.
The result, an incredible 40 Year Old, only the second ever non-vintage Macallan released and limited to 500 bottles! Stunning!
