It’s something their ancestors lived through.
There was a time when entire communities were forced to leave their homes…
Families walked for miles…
through harsh conditions…
losing everything along the way…

This part of history is rarely talked about.
For the Plains Tribes, survival once depended on one thing…
The buffalo.
It was their food.
Their clothing.
Their way of life.
Then suddenly…
the buffalo started disappearing.
Not by accident.
But in massive numbers.
Hunting increased.
Railroads expanded.
And millions of buffalo were killed.
Within years, something unimaginable happened…
A powerful people were left without their main source of survival.
With no food left…
many tribes were forced to depend on government rations.
But those rations came with control.
Move here.
Stay there.
Follow these rules.
Freedom slowly disappeared.
This wasn’t just about animals…
It was about breaking a way of life.
And it worked.
This is not just history.
It’s a reminder of how survival can be taken away… without direct war.
