And tomorrow… 79°! 🙌
Maybe even some RAIN! 🌧️

After this summer, 79° is gonna feel like we need a jacket. 😂

We’ve had enough heat and dust to last us a lifetime, and now Missouri might finally give us a little mud to go with our dust. 🤣

Of course, this cooler weather is only sticking around for like TWO DAYS, because apparently Missouri has places to be and refuses to let us get comfortable.

So enjoy it while it lasts, folks!

If an actual raindrop falls tomorrow, we may have to gather in the parking lot and hold a little ceremony.

The grass is gonna come crawling back like:

🌧️ LUNCH IS READY! 🌧️

Y’all… we can almost see the light at the end of this hot, sweaty tunnel. 😂 After weeks of downright ridiculous heat, we’re less than two days away from some cooler weather and MUCH needed rain.

So until Mother Nature finally turns the thermostat down, we figured everybody could use a little comfort food. ❤️

Nothing fancy. Just a good ol’ plate of hot, homemade comfort food to help us collectively drag ourselves across the finish line of this heat wave. 😂

🇺🇸 We’ll be CLOSED tomorrow for Labor Day! 🇺🇸

Before we take the day off, we just want to say thank you, Long Lane.

When we took over this little store, we had a dream, a whole lot of hope, and absolutely no guarantee that anybody would keep walking through the door. 😅

But y’all did.

You’ve stopped in for lunch, grabbed cold drinks, tried our latest kitchen experiments, told your friends about us, laughed with us, and supported this little place week after week.

Without all of you, this little dream simply wouldn’t be possible. We mean that from the bottom of our hearts. ❤️

So tomorrow, we’re taking a little Labor Day break to rest, recharge, and enjoy the holiday.

We’ll be back Tuesday morning ready to see all your smiling faces.

Oh... and while we were at it, we may have brought home a whole bunch of new snacks and candy for the shelves. 😉🍬

Because apparently taking a day off doesn’t mean we know how to stop buying stuff for the store.

🔥🍗 SATURDAY LUNCH IS COMING IN HOT. 🍗🔥

It’s Labor Day weekend.
It’s hotter than a tractor seat in August.
And for reasons that probably shouldn’t be examined too closely, we decided this was the perfect day to fry a WHOLE MESS of chicken wings. 😂

Today we’ve got:

🍗 Wet-brined, crispy fried chicken wings
🥔 Fresh spiraled & fried potatoes
🥣 BBQ, Buffalo, or Ranch for dipping

These wings have been brined, dried, pampered, reracked, dried again, and generally treated better than most of us have been all week.

Now they’re headed straight into 350° oil.

A beautiful ending, really. 🤣

So if your Labor Day weekend plans include standing in front of an air conditioner with a plate full of wings and absolutely no intention of sharing…

We understand.

🚨🌯 SHRINKFLATION HAS OFFICIALLY REACHED JOHNNY’S STORE.

We went to town this morning for more large burrito tortillas.

They were sold out.

So naturally, after several minutes of research, development, and absolutely no adult supervision whatsoever…

we made Tiny Burrito.

He is technically a burrito.

Legally, probably. 🤣

Now, before anybody starts worrying — we are NOT about to hand you one tiny emotional-support burrito and send you back to work hungry.

We’ve got 10 full-size Chicken & Black Bean Burritos made up and ready to go, stuffed with seasoned grilled chicken, black beans, shredded cheese AND nacho cheese because apparently one cheese simply wasn’t enough today. 😏

Once those 10 big boys are gone, we’re switching over to TWO Chicken & Black Bean Soft Tacos with the same filling.

Everything comes with Mexican rice and refried beans on the side.

🍗🥓🧀 TODAY’S LUNCH SPECIAL: CHICKEN BACON RANCH PASTA

We grilled up garlic-seasoned chicken thighs over the flame, chopped ’em up, and tossed them with rotini, crispy bacon, and a rich homemade cheesy ranch sauce.

Then, because apparently we have absolutely no adult supervision, we covered the whole thing in more cheese and baked it. 🤣

It’s creamy. It’s cheesy. It’s loaded with chicken and bacon.

Is this a sensible lunch?
Probably not.

Are we going to eat some anyway?
Absolutely.

🔥🌮 TODAY’S LUNCH SPECIAL: PULLED PORK QUESADILLAS

Today we’ve got fall-apart tender pork shoulder, smoked low & slow in the heat… just like the rest of us this September. 🥵🤣

We drizzle that beautiful smoked pork with BBQ sauce, pile on shredded cheese, fold it into a flour tortilla, and grill it until it’s golden, crispy, melty, and dangerously easy to eat.

The calendar says September.

Missouri said, “That’s adorable.” ☀️

So while outside continues its best impression of the inside of a smoker, we might as well eat accordingly.

🐷 Tender smoked pulled pork
🔥 BBQ sauce
🧀 Melted cheese
🌮 Crispy grilled tortilla
🥵 A complimentary feeling of being personally attacked by the sun

🥵 IT’S 100° OUTSIDE… BUT WE’VE GOT GOOD NEWS!

Our AC is FIXED! 🎉😂
After spending what felt like the entire summer cooking with the weather, we can finally say the air conditioner is winning again. 🙌

So come enjoy some lunch somewhere that is actually COOL! ❄️

🔥 Honey Chili Chicken Bites — sweet, spicy, crispy and a whole lot better than cooking at home today.

🧀 Mozzarella Sticks — hot, cheesy goodness, because apparently we have no respect for the thermometer. 😂

🥖 Meatball sandwiches— hot, cheesy, saucy and worth turning the AC up a notch for.

🍕🥪 And we can also make sandwiches and pizzas to order!

It’s 100° outside. Our AC works. Your stove doesn’t need to.

🐟 IN CASE YOU MISSED IT LAST SATURDAY… 😉

Apparently the universe looked at us this morning, saw our chicken was still frozen solid, and said:

“Run the fish fry back.” 🤣

Funny part is, we had thawed this fish out for our own little private fish fry at home.

Sorry, supper. Business is business. 😂

So by completely accidental popular demand, today’s lunch special is a little encore from last weekend:
