Caught up on tag-writing in the lounge today with the assistance of a new, delicious bottle of Pinot Noir. I dunno about you but I’m a way better and more creative writer after a glass or two of wine, and this Burgundy did the trick, offering up notes of ripe farmer’s market cherries, freshly tilled garden soil, and a dash of old fashioned pencil shavings, with pleasantly soft, supple tannins. It pairs well with (very) short form expository writing, all types of poultry (roast chicken! turkey sandwiches!) potato gratin, and freezing rain! ♥️🍷🛷

Sifting through old photos to post from the beginning of Upstream, I thought I might feel sad or bitter but mostly all I feel is proud and grateful. Six and a half years at 34 Main Street, a space we put so much love and care into building out and opening. My first business! So many great memories made and friendships formed here! My sweet dogs! I feel a little nostalgic maybe… but I’m really, really excited to carry on in our new space. Maybe we’re leaving behind our wood floors and a lot of layers of white paint but all the other good stuff? The love, the vibes, the ghosts of parties past? That all comes with us.
All that is to say… we’re closed today as we transition to 65 Main Street! Can’t wait to play our records and spill some wine with y’all downstream at new Upstream!

Sometimes you just want to drink an entire bottle of wine while listening to Tori Amos. Right? Or is that just me? Lemme know if you know what I’m talking about. Anywayyyyyy my favorite wine to drink for these occasions is “Tear in Your Hand” made by my dear friend @kirk_sutherland of @erdewines in Oregon, which is freaking delicious (like you’ll want a whole bottle to yourself kind of delicious) and is also named after A TORI AMOS SONG. Last week my buddy/dealer Brad at @jitterbugcatskills let me know he had a copy of Little Earthquakes for me and that seemed like a perfect excuse to pop a bottle of Kirk’s wine, which I probably drink like, once a week? And then I took this pretty low quality video while watching live @toriamos performances for the millionth time. Fun fact- I downloaded all her live performances and bootlegs on Napster when I was in middle school and we got a notice in the mail about illegal activity from our internet provider. Cool. Also- real question- do reels still get attention in the feed when they’re terrible? 🍷🎶👩🏻‍🦰🎹
