How It All Started…

Grandma Karen has been crocheting for a long time. She had a whole bunch of scrap yarn from her previous projects that she couldn’t figure out what to do with, but she also didn’t want to just throw it away. One day, she came up with a crochet pattern and started making jellyfish.

She made jellyfish in many different colors and let her seven grandkids name them and choose something each jellyfish liked. She then attached a small label to each jellyfish with a message such as, “Hi, my name is Seagull, and I love French fries!”

Grandma Karen also always participated in the Lincoln City Garage Sale Weekend. She started selling her jellyfish at her garage sales, and they were such a big hit that people would stop by her house asking for more. She was so excited and told her daughter, Nicole, that she had always dreamed of having a gift shop where she could sell her crafts.

About six months later, they opened Lincoln City Gifts. Today, it is a beloved local, family owned and operated business that has been open for almost eight years. After opening the store, Grandma Karen decided to place her crocheted jellyfish in glass jars and call them her “Jar of Jelly.” Each jellyfish comes with its own unique name and personality, making them a favorite among customers. It is doing so well that Grandma Karen and her family have won best gift shop for many years and even opened a new store specializing in art and craft supplies! Pancake Breakfast this Saturday! $10 will get you pancakes, bacon or sausage, and a drink. All money raised goes towards scholarships for local kids.🩷

Our pancake breakfast is just one week away! Do you have your tickets yet? If not, find a Kiwanian while you are out and about during all the Lincoln City Community Days festivities! You can also buy your tickets at the door of Mo's Restaurant in the Taft neighborhood. Saturday, April 25 from 7AM to 10AM. Get a hearty breakfast for $10 per person or feed 5 for $40! The more the merrier!
