Just watching the news and they were talking about charges at businesses when using a card for purchases. They did not explain this fully like I was hoping they would. Had I not owned a business, I wouldn't have understood this like I do now. For the first few years that I owned a business I was paying for everyone that used a card. The cost on average was about $1500 a month. Those charges were rough. Between making my bank payment from the loan I took out to purchase the business, then my rent on the building, what I was paying on people using their credit card was about the same amount. I also needed to stay competitive and didn't want to raise my prices. I ended up going with a card processing company where there was a 3% fee for people using a card. I still had to end up paying some, but not near the amount. People need to understand, businesses don't like having to do that, but businesses are also struggling and just want to stay in business. Businesses also have to pay for the credit card paper, which is another cost to the business owner. I ended up selling my business at the end of the year, but I am glad I understand this charge. Now when I use my card somewhere, I understand and don't get irritated. If you don't want the charge, pay in cash. Businesses like that a whole lot better.

Ok, so apparently plans have changed again. We just loaded up everything in the store the past couple of days. Whew, what a job!!. You don't even realize just how much is in a place until you are packing it all up and putting on trucks. 2 days ago we completely filled a cargo van, a pickup truck that had a big trailer, and yesterday they rented a huge U-Haul and we filled that. I am so thankful for my workers. I can't even say enough how amazing they are. When I made this post I thought construction was starting in March. I guess they got a different construction company and they are supposed to start right away. Without me actually owning it anymore, I don't know these things until they tell me. I've wanted to keep everyone updated as best I could.

UPDATE:
New owners finally got all of their licenses in. We will be open on Wednesday from 9:00-8:00. Somewhere between 10-20 days though we will be closing for them to bring people in to do construction, then they will be closed for a couple of weeks while construction is going on. We are all so excited to get back up there and see you all again. We all have definitely missed seeing everyone.

Well New Year's Eve was our last day of me owning the business. I want to thank everyone again for choosing me as your place to go. This has really been a great experience for me and it was all of you that made my time there so enjoyable. I really am sorry that I was unable to take cards and could only do cash these last 2 days. It really was out of my control. The new owners will be closing the place down for a couple of weeks while it is under construction. They will be working hard to make it look like a brand new place. They are putting in all new gas tanks and pumps and it will be a convenient store once again. They are keeping alcohol there as well. This isn't goodbye though. You will still see the same faces there that you were used to seeing, and most likely a couple of new ones. My employees will still be there and I promised the new owners that I would stay on as Manager when they asked. Please come and see us again when it re-opens. I love you all and will see you in 2026. 🥂

Many of you may have already heard that we sold our business. Our last day as owners will be December 31st. We will be there on January 1st, but the store will be closed. We need to do year end inventory and have a starting inventory for the new owners. I really want to thank all of my customers for making my time there amazing. I have gotten to know so many people and have made many friends. From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU!! You all made coming to work enjoyable. To my employees, you are the absolute best. I couldn't find better people to work with. The new owner wants to keep my employees and asked me to manage it. It will be a gas station and convenience store again, but they do plan to still carry beer and alcohol as well. It will have all new pumps and tanks and they are going to renovate the inside as well. It should be really nice. I don't think they will have as much alcohol as what is in there now. We still have a lot of stuff on our discount counter so make sure you come check it out before it's gone. We have quite a bit of the PB&W peanut butter whiskey. Regular price on that is $25. I have it for only $8. All of our knives are priced down to $10.
