Exciting industry news that I want to share with you today!
First up, today the Minnesota Office of Cannabis Management held its very first lottery for cannabis application licenses! This includes social equity applicants and general applicants for cultivator, manufacturer, and mezzobusiness licenses. For those interested in a retail license, a separate lottery for social equity applicants was held, and general applicants will have another chance on July 22.
The first lotteries took place this morning, drawing from a pool of 655 qualified social equity applicants, with additional drawings later for general applicants. Remember, those selected still need to complete a few final steps to receive their business licenses, including background checks and local approvals.
On another note, Governor Walz recently signed the first Tribal-state cannabis compact with the White Earth Nation. This compact aims to foster a cooperative relationship between the state and Tribal Nations, enhancing public health and safety while ensuring a well-regulated cannabis market.
And just a quick note from us: we're still waiting to hear back about our application for the type of license we applied for they are still reviewing over 600 applications. we'll keep you posted as soon as we have news!
We’re excited about these developments and can’t wait to see how they shape the future of cannabis in Minnesota. See you soon at Bears!
