In 1901, the Great Northern Railway notified the mayor of Larimore that if they wished to keep the division headquarters here that further housing was needed. Local businessmen formed the Larimore Improvement Company in November and built four two-story railroad cottages the following spring. (Those homes still stand on Front St. today)

125 years have passed and much has changed. The Larimore Improvement Company changed its name to the Larimore Improvement Association and in 1949, the Association opened the bar. Many residents and businesses have come and gone in that time, but the organization’s commitment to serving the community has not changed through charitable giving and the coldest beer in town.

To continue and strengthen the original mission of service to the community, over the next few weeks/months you will see some changes. Grant Sweeney will step down from the board and the Association will host him as a tenant that will assume daily operations of the bar and off sale. This reorganization will allow us to give the dedicated attention to the bar and the organization that they both deserve.

Be sure to come out and see us as we make the changes to carry us through the next 125 years!
