Founded in 2022 by Robert Theodorow, Generation NA offers one of the most expansive and carefully curated selections of non-alc and functional beverages in the U.S.

The store carries an astounding 400–500 products at any given time and has nearly 2,000 SKUs in their POS system. Customers can browse everything from Delta-9 THC sodas and adaptogenic RTDs to NA spirits and kava-based drinks—products designed not just for taste, but for effect.

Today, 75% of Generation NA’s total sales come from mood-enhancing functional beverages - THC, kava, kanna, and adaptogens. Delta-9 THC alone accounts for 50% of all RTD sales, thanks to a loophole in the 2018 Farm Bill that allows hemp-derived THC to be sold legally in many states, including Indiana. Brands like Crossbred, Tiger Tea, Flowerboy and Brez are thriving by delivering microdose-friendly formats aimed at sleep, stress, and social ease.

But Generation NA is more than a bottle shop. It doubles as a community hub—hosting guided tastings, DJ sets, and cultural events. It’s the kind of thing you’d expect in Portland or Brooklyn, which makes its success in Lafayette all the more remarkable.

Generation NA reflects a generational shift away from alcohol and toward options that offer a functional benefit you can actually feel.

“I didn’t set out to build a movement,” Rob told me. “I just wanted a better option—and it turns out, so did a lot of other people.”

The NA beer category is projected to continue growing at an annual rate of 8% through 2029, as ale is expected to decline by 2% annually during the same period.

In the US, sales of zero-proof alcohol surged 26% in the year leading up to the Super Bowl, largely due to the growing popularity of NA beer. And that was mostly before the outgoing Surgeon General called for cancer warnings on alcohol in January."
