Beginning December 3rd, one of Maine’s most magical holiday experiences gets underway with the 45th Annual Christmas Prelude in Kennebunkport! Running through December 13th, this 11-day celebration fills the historic coastal town with beautiful Christmas lights, decorated storefronts, towering Christmas trees, and holiday events. The festivities include the famous Dock Square Christmas Tree Lighting on December 4th, along with the unique Lobster Trap Tree Lighting in nearby Cape Porpoise. You can watch the colorful Hat Parade wind through town, see Santa Claus arrive by lobster boat along the Kennebunk River, and enjoy fireworks lighting up the sky on December 11th. Other favorites include candlelight caroling at the Franciscan Monastery, holiday trolley rides at the Seashore Trolley Museum, craft fairs, and the popular Pooch Parade featuring dogs dressed for Christmas. Throughout the celebration, you'll find holiday shopping, live music, seasonal food, festive drinks, and special events at local restaurants and inns. With so many Christmas traditions packed into one beautiful seaside village, it's easy to see why HGTV once named Kennebunkport America's #2 Christmas Town!
