This post comes with many mixed emotions. Tomorrow Airport Grocery will be under new ownership. The McDougalds are ready to grab the torch and travel on for the good of all of our wonderful customers. Y’all have made Airport Grocery work for the last 31 years. We hope that we will still see everyone around town and in Airport.
At this time in our lives we have decided that we want to slow down and try to enjoy our family and travel some. Those of you that know Danny, know that slowing down is not in his vocabulary but we will see.
It is bittersweet for me— my dad and mom moved me to Louisiana from Florida when I was 9 years old to purchase Dickerson’s 6-10. It was renamed Airport Grocery. So it has always been special to me. I also met Danny Brown there when I was 14. Believe it or not he was a stock boy.
My children and my grandchildren have never known life without Airport Grocery so this will be a major change for them. No longer will they be able to walk in and get things for “ free”.
All of this has made me reflect on y’all. Our employees and our customers. Yall are the best. We are forever grateful and will always consider each and every one of you “ our Family”.
Now on to the next phase of our lives. P.S. Danny will always have an open door and free coffee at Townsmen Inn. I figure he would love seeing familiar faces.
