Please join us for a free kids fishing derby at Lake Vesuvius on April 26! Be sure to register starting at 8 a.m. before the derby kicks off at 9 a.m. All kids ages 17 and under are welcome. Lunch will be provided at noon with awards to follow.

The derby will be organized into the following age groups: ages 4-7, ages 8-11, and ages 12-17. Bait will be provided. A limited number of fishing poles will be available, so we encourage participants to bring their own but will try to accommodate needs as much as possible. In addition to the derby, activities will include archery and bb gun inflatables, plus a display of skins and furs from native wildlife.

The Lake Vesuvius boat launch will be closed from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. for the event.

Events like these are made possible by our volunteers, partners, and community organizations, including the Southern Wayne Advocacy Council, Re-Wilding Wayne National, Lawrence County Soil and Water Conservation District, Lawrence County 4-H, Gillispie's 93 Carryout, and National Wild Turkey Federation.
