However, if the ice comes, bad things happen after about 1/4 of an inch. As we approach 3/8, it adds 10s of thousands of pounds to your trees. The trees are frozen and not flexible, so they break.
Once this starts happening, it can get dangerous fast. I've been out looking at trees on a home and trees were still breaking around us the entire day. It's far different than our common wind events.
