🦌🍶 Harushika Shiboritate Extra Dry
Junmai Nama Genshu

Getting tuckered out by all the recent sweet sake? Let’s give this +15 SMV (!!! Extra Dry) sake by Harushika a try then!

And did you know? One of the many customer favorite sake here is nicknamed the “Martini Lover’s Sake”🍸 And that sake has a SMV of +12!

So just remember, the higher the SMV the (generally) drier a sake.

(Excluding other factors like acidity level, amino acid level, etc. 😅)

“Refreshing aroma of herbs and mint. Well-balanced with soft umami savory flavor and dry taste. Crisp and clean after taste. Serve chilled.”

As a Genshu this sake is also undiluted! So no extra water, thus leaving this sake at 18% ABV. This helps with its crisp & clean finish and makes a great food pairing sake!

Try anything like, “Broiled amberjack, Medium fatty tuna, Mackerel cut, Seared bonito, Salt-grilled blackthroat seaperch, Salted squid, Sea bream and bonito shuto, Sukiyaki, Miso grilled beef, Boiled beef shigure, Mapo Tofu, etc.”

Harushika is another beloved sake by many of you, and for those just enjoying them for the first time, just remember them by their name: Spring Deer ☺️🦌

🍑🍻 Kyoto Peach Weizen is back in stock 📣 Along with another new Kyoto Beer: Kölsch!

Thank you for your patience, our favorite Peach Beer is back in with another one of its other Kizakura Beers!

“Floral and fruity flavor like apple or pear. Great balance with mild bitterness and silky bubbles going down in your throat.”

It’s inspired by the German beer to become a smooth & malty Japanese Kölsch that’s slightly sweet & light.

Watari Bune Rice Shochu (New to Hawaii!)

We take a quick break from our sake posts to share about a new Shochu we brought in originally for our special sake reception night! 🍶

As a rice Shochu that’s been vacuum distilled at cold temperatures, it’s both creamy and light thanks to its special heirloom sake rice! (Read more about it at the end🤙🏼)

It’s even fairly reminiscent of a Ginjo grade sake in terms of sweetness and acidity.

But don’t be fooled by its bright notes of melon, grapefruit, and rice though! This is still a 24% ABV distilled spirit, so drink with care😚

It’s incredibly good at a variety of temperatures: “…Room temperature, over ice, top with sparkling water, or even gently warm.”

“This Rice Shochu is distilled from 100% Watari Bune Sake Rice. Huchu Homare Brewery won many awards for sake brewed with Watari Bune rice, earning the nickname, Liquid Gold.

It is an heirloom varietal that is very difficult to grow and so went out of use for 50 years until 7th generation President, Takaaki Yamauchi of Huchu Homare Brewery, revived it in 1989 with just 14 grams of seeds.

In sakes off season, he also brews small batches of Shochu using the very same rice.” 🌾

Kamikokoro Fuyu No Tsuki “Winter’s Moon” 🌙 🍶 Junmai Ginjo Muroka Nama

Looking for a Father’s Day present? This rich and smooth sake will be perfect by itself or with all kinds of ono foods!

In fact, you can sample the sake first for yourself this Aloha Friday ☺️🌺

And, if the name seems familiar, you might remember that this sake brewery loves to brew using white peach yeast!

It creates a gentle aroma of white peach, and “Flavor like a ripe white peach or melon. Authentic umami of rice, clean light acidity, it goes well with any dishes. Served chilled.”

With its savory, slight acidity, and sweetness it’ll be your go-to sake if you’re planing a seafood dinner! (Or lunch, or maybe brunch even?😚🍽️)

Food Pairings: “Flounder, Squid, Scallop, Tomato Bruschetta, Caprese, Aqua pazza, Proscuitto and Melon, Seafood Salad, Seafood Au Gratin, Cream Stew, Cold Chicken Falvored with Seasme Dressing, Grilled White Fish with Salt, Tempura, Matsutake Mushroom…etc.”

Jyoku Hanasaka Rabbit
Junmai

Holy fluff, now that’s a cute label! 🥰 It’s time to for your scheduled seasonal sake post, and many of you might remember this refreshing sake from last year!

“Balanced high acidity, crisp mouthfeel and rice favor. Aroma of sweet and sour green apple and a hint of white peach.

Characterized by a high refreshing malic acid. A light citrusy acidity with a faint citrus favor and a fruity, cotton candy-like taste with a light sweetness and umami. Serve chilled or at room temperature.”

This sweet and sour sake is perfect for any of your food cravings too, like“Steak (demi-glazed), Hamburger Steak, Ginger Pork, Simmered Fish, Okonomiyaki, Gratin, Chikuzen-ni, Curry Rice, Pizza, Grilled Fish (salt-baked), bara-yaki.”

As a seasonal sake we have a limited amount, but this time it’s not a raw or namazake so you can store this at room temperature 🤙🏼

Another new sake to Hawaii (and what we’re tasting this Aloha Friday🥳)!
Manatsuru Junmai Ginjo Miyamanishiki

Let’s balance this sake tasting lineup with a highly polished Junmai Ginjo that’s a breath of fresh air thanks to its “…refreshing aftertaste with a hint of sweetness. It has a gorgeous yet subdued ginjo aroma, floral and peach notes, and a clean taste with a hint of sweetness. You can also taste almonds and lemon peel with a refreshing herbal taste.”

And, if you’re worried it may be too sweet, this medium body sakehas a quick and clean finish that ensures its fruity notes don’t linger. Best served chilled.

Food Pairings: “The firm acidity of this sake makes it an excellent option to pair with strong-flavored dishes such as Sauteed Chicken, Beef Stew, Mabo Tofu, and Hapohao Chai.”
